Keeping my18 . 3 years old in May and not sure if the Maserati extended warranty is worth the cost £2k for the 4th year or £3k for the 4th&5th years . not 10,000miles yet and been faultless , I can see the reasoning if you done some 50,000 + miles what’s your thinking? Would I get more ££ if I sold within the 4th year with the extended warranty in place? Thanks for your help.

I bought the two extra years with similar mileage to yours and have used it to replace the headlights which fogged up with condensation plus one other minor issue but on balance I wouldn’t bother. Bank the money.
Mark.
p.s. If you do buy it, I can well recommend having a year of your two years being in Lockdown when you hardly use the car - makes you feel even better about the cool £3,000 you’ve spent.........

This is a very expensive warranty quote. My Range Rover warranty expires on 21/3 and includes their dedicated roadside assistance service run by the AA. I had a warning light appear 2 weeks ago and the bloke came to take a look. It was the valve timing solenoids and he changed them on my drive in under an hour under warranty. Then he checked out the battery and air suspension compressor, both of which were fine but he’d have changed them if less than 70% healthy. Bloody fantastic service.

I’ve just renewed for the 4th year at £980.

I appreciate that our Masers are more complicated and expensive to fix than a Rangie but I doubt any claims would be as easily rectified. Makes you wonder.

I’d not bother. Especially given that you appear to be using the car for only maybe 3k miles per year.

When I bought my 17 plate, it was approaching 2 years old. Part of the 'deal' included warranty until March 2022 and I have not had a claim yet (car now has 25000 miles on the clock) and it has not missed a beat during my ownership.

Ignoring the cost of the warranty itself, you also have to be aware of the hidden service cost of maintaining the warranty. Every indie will tell you they can do the 4 year service for £1500 but will want an extra £700 or more to do the Lamdbas that you need to retain the warranty.

I have opted to spend a little more again to have mine done by the main dealer but after that it will be indie all the way and I will not replace the Lambdas again until they actually need doing.

So you CAN save nearly £1000 by not having the warranty and having an indie do the 4 year service without Lambdas.

It is a gamble of course but with £3k from the warranty and £1k from service savings, you have quite a pot of money to put towards any work that needs doing.

An old favourite topic, but has anyone on here taken out the Maserati "Limited Extended" warranty for Yrs 6 & 7? I've been quoted a similar price to the 4 & 5yr extension (c£3.5k), but the cover is much reduced (only engine and gear box in reality), and you have to pay up front as a lump sum. Whilst I successfully used the warranty over the past few years for relatively minor issues, I am really on the fence this time. Any actual experience of this product/cover for Yrs 6 & 7 appreciated.

If an engine is going to go, it would have gone by year 5. Proper Maintenance should prevent and engine letting go. That an an analysis of the wear materials in the old oil.

Anyway, THE old topic is tyres.

Hi Craig, I’m on the same fence for late July! I did buy the year 4&5 warranty but don’t think the 6&7 year deal is worth it. Hope I won’t regret that....... Mark.

I thought the old topic was how long has my clutch got left?

Morning Mark. I am going to take the lack of actual forum experience of having this Yr 6/7 warranty as an indicator there is a limited degree of confidence in its worth :) ! From personal experience, Graypaul have been excellent over the 4/5 yr period and claimed on behalf a number of times, but the coverage tightens measurably post 5yrs unfortunately. Just frustrating that no full warranty remains for longer ala Aston and Ferrari.
