Ciao..

Do any of you have warranties on your Ferraris? If so do you use the official Ferrari one? Ive just renewed mine for a year at nearly £3k, and its not exactly all encompassing!

Nope me neither. £3000 buys you a lot of parts and labour from an Indy for those more difficult jobs if required… depends on the Ferrari model and what’s covered etc.

I think the warranty will buy you peace of mind. Whether it is good value or not is irrelevant if it means you can enjoy your car more without unnecessary worry.

Thats why I went for it in the end. Its a 2015 Cali T so quite modern. Since they come with the 7 years free servicing aswell, anything from 2015 onwards wont have seen an independant, so they probably wont offer servicing for them just yet

We have a Ferrari customer in at the moment. It’s just come out of it’s 7 yr service and warranty pack and will not go back to the main dealer as his front nose lift system went, within factory warranty…you guessed it, not covered, £4K please.

Warchest the money and use Indy’s you should be ok and safe in the knowledge if you need a pricey fix, the money is there.

That is shocking service from Ferrari. It’s not like it’s a consumable part or something you would expect to wear from normal usage.

Who needs a front nose system anyway, just stick to the m5 and m4 and the only speed bumps you need to worry about are in the service stations

I would have been chatting to Ferrari via my solicitor and then in Court if they treated me like that.

I would imagine that Ferrari are used to that type of response, given the exuberant wealth their customers usually enjoy. I'd have expected the dealer to have explained why the repair does not fall within scope of the warranty, and i would also expect there to be an appropriate clause excluding the part.

If the warranty however is incumbent of all mechanical parts then it would be difficult to wriggle out of.

Had the Ferrari warranty on one of my previous cars, and having read the small print it pretty much only covered engine and gearbox. It was around £3.5k for a year, however despite its pretty woeful coverage I slept a bit better at night knowing the big ticket items were covered.

This a lot more wriggle room in this kind of “legal discussion” than simply being a black and white, will a judge say they are liable, situation.

Legal challenges have to be defended, investigated and submissions made, there is a cost to this (here the wealth of the protagonist can mean they will just want to prove a point and will spend).

The retaining a solicitor is a statement of intent, and can indicate the loss of a lucrative commercial relationship. In the case Matt noted above, they lost the customer.

Not all contracts are well written (a lot aren’t) so there can be a lot of ground to cover in terms of what really is and isn’t included.

I find T&Cs are just a starting point for further negotiation, it’s just that some parties need more persuasion to start negotiating than others.

That was pretty much my thought when I went for it

I'll be in a similar position when the two year warranty extension expires on the Cali. The warranty was one of the reasons I bought from the dealer. They sorted a whole bunch of little items before the sale, and it reduced the size of the brave pill I was swallowing.

The warchest is currently being built to cover the other things. Next up is adjustment of the boot, as it sometimes opens after the roof mechanism operates, a sticky passenger seat belt, and tyres :D (its always tyres lol).
