I pay my respects every year, I know it will end in tears long before I hear the last post and the verse.

Lest we Forget

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Did anyone beside me think that the Service of Rememberance last night seems to be turning into an entertainment show (Alfie Boe, Katie Melusa etc) rather than the concentrating on the services who were definitely in short supply. The Queen didn't look amused but, there again, she never does these days.

I noticed the lack of service personnel and did notice the 'entertainment' level had been cranked up but i think they may have been trying to appeal to the younger audience. Lets be honest and no disrespect intended guys and this could seem controversial so apologies in advance but the younger generation need this put into there head, in 50 years time we wont be around and it will need todays younger generation to carry the torch forwards. If it takes a band aid style wembley concert then im for that to, my son is a serving troop and he feels that the majority of younger folk dont understand or care to understand what remembrance day is all about.

I think whatever gets the message across can only be a positive. :)

I made my kids switch off their xbox and watch some of the Remembrance Day service this morning (including observing the 2 minute silence). Respect should be taught from at a young age - always believed that.

Spot on DD I too always make my kids aware of the sacrafice made by these brave men.
Don't think the schools make enough of an effort for remembrance.

Exactly that.
And we ALL respect the 2 min silence in our house.
There was an incident last year (local news) where a bus driver pulled over mid journey for the 2 min silence, and some drunken **** of a passenger attacked him for stopping.
Don't know if they caught him though.

I had to force the management in our place to sound the alarms to observe a minutes silence today, Disgraceful

Being the H&S Manager has it's benefits, it was a case of "Do the minutes silence or I evacuate the building"

Well done HM. We mustn't let people ignore this just because it's inconvenient.
