GranCab roof issue... not opening and have error warning

Hi guys,

So got my wife’s grancab out of the barn after having been in hibernation for six months.

Started her up and all working great. Note, had her on a Halfords solar charger since the end of September and the battery charge did not go down below 90% which I think is great!

Anyway, the roof operation will not work and it is giving a constant beeping sound whilst driving the car as well as the screen telling me that the roof operation is not working. Last summer, we had a few intermittent issues with this but it seem to resolve itself every time. But now it is beeping on start up and driving and no matter what I do is resolving it.

Does anybody have any insight into potential issues and whether there is a quick fix or whether it needs to go to Maserati for repair?

I need to drop the car in for the dreaded two-year annual service so I can get this done at the same time but if there is a quick fix without having to pay them, then all the better!

Appreciate any feedback and have a great day everyone.

Stu

I just know someone will suggest battery reset (disconnect battery for 30mins) and try again with 100% charged battery, so it may as well be me that suggests it.
Hope you get sorted.

Maybe take it for a decent drive with heater set to warm to build up heat in the cabin and soak into roof mechanism. Beat with rubber hammer when you get home. If it is still not moving at least you've had a nice drive :)

Is the roof attempting to open at all... In which case it may be mechanical or hydraulic... Or simply no initiation at all, which would likely be electrical? On my older gs spyder which may have a completely different architecture to the GC, i occasionally have problems due to attempting to open when not on flat ground, but also when attempting to open as soon as i get in the car. I find driving for 2 to 3 minutes solves the issue. Sounds like your default case is to walk through the usual reset procedure. Good luck!

As per Matts suggestion or a drive down a **** road (that's most of the UK network).

On my older soft tope the micro switches tend to stick without use and they are the ones that tell the ECU that everything is in sequence.

Rubber hammer is a good idea - I thumped mine and it hurt my hand - but at least it sorted it,
