110 years ago to day Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili was founded in Milan, shortened to A.L.F.A and later renamed Alfa Romeo they went on to produce some of the most exotic and performance inspired cars of the day before moving to mass production in the 50s but still retaining that ALFA character that we all love

That’s bizarre and rather apt, it’s my youngest’s 16th today

Happy Birthday to two car nuts (ok, one)

I would say they are both stunning and temperamental in equal measures.

I can only guess that neither like being left out in the rain, either?

Now if you had named her Milan, like one of my Alfa friends named his daughter, that would have been super cool

A friend of mine joined ARGB in 1965 and has just informed me that he has driven at least one Alfa every day since! That is 55 years or half their existence! I doubt many could claim that. I have to confess I have never owned an Alfa and some would say that I cannot be a petrol head because of that! By the time I could afford to insure one the best days had passed. Lusted after a 2.5 GTV6 but was never brave enough!

GTV 6 2.5 is a great car, ignore the bad press go and find one and have a go - the sound alone is worth it. The later Busso engines sound good but they lack the clarity of the 2.5

I miss my GTV 6 even though it had a 3.0 engine in it and quite often get tempted by the newly restored ones that come up occasionally but it would sit between my Giulietta and SZ and not sure I am overly keen to spend nearly £30k on one

Happy birthday. Had 2 x, 145s and 2 x 147s all from new, 2 x 3.0 GTVs, 1 x 2.0 Spyder, and 2 x 3.0 Spyders, now still driving the 3.2 Brera as the daily hack. I've nearly always had an Alfa. :)

I’m guessing it’s wrong and poor form to ask for photo’s?...

@conaero - please don't ban me!

Mine are fairly modern, had a 164 and a 166 aswell. Great cars all of them. Would love a 105 Guilia one day.

I have had 7... Two 155, three GTV, one hateful 156 and one hateful Brera. Best one was the GTV V6 best car Alfa made for years and still better then most of what they make these days.

Happy Birthady ALFA! My daily hack for the last six and a half years, the only bits that don't work when they should are the dodgy electrics, the wiring loom snagging in the tailgate is a known fault which crops up regularly, but it's a great car and quick enough for my needs.... being the 1.6 though it sounds like a tractor.....

There are so many older Alfas I'd love to own..... 105 Series Giulias, Duetto Spider, 2600 Sprint (and the Zagato version), Giulia SS, 2000 Berlina, Montreal, Tipo 33.... lots of Mitos, Giuliettas, 159s, Breras and the new Giulia round here. My mate had a gorgeous 156 Sportwagon about ten years ago, when it wasn't throwing tantrums it was utterley sublime to drive and so pretty.

When Alfa get it right, they get it right....
