Interesting take on Ferrari ownership

Jayemm gave his 430 Scuderia back to Dick Lovett cos they couldn’t fix the knocking from the suspension so it seems to becoming a problem for Ferrari.
I do recall quite a few problems when he first took delivery, I must have missed that he has returned it completely, was it a dedicated video do you recall? he does throw out a lot of videos and my life is too short to watch them all, must try the x2 speed option!

Please forgive the intrusion, but given your experience of pizza parlours:

Do you enjoy female company?
Do you have royal connections?
Do you ever sweat?
Is 'Bob' your real name?

Just wondered.......

The sweaty nonce claimed to be in Pizza Express. Somebody of his 'stature' wouldn't stoop to Pizza Hut.

He’s not cut out for Italian car ownership! Simple as that. All those things you get that.. I’m not a massive Fezza fan at all so I’m the wrong person to ask.

No dedicated video but he mentioned it in a recent one as people had been asking him where the new Scuderia content was. Probably not worth seeking out. Basically the suspension knocked strangely under certain conditions. DL and Ferrari confirmed it wasn’t normal and shouldn’t happen but couldn’t get to the bottom of it so DL took the car back and he got out of the deal minus the interest payments. Seems to have taken it quite well and didn’t moan about it to be fair although he did seem frustrated that it ended that way and the amount of time it spent off the road.

I think it helped he was Jayemm, my brother bought a Ferrari off DL, not a good move.

I used to sweat a lot in the cheap ski gear of my youth but after I got the sponsorship deal with Lynx I was able to upgrade to more expensive ski wear and buy a trendy Alpine chalet. I had some unexpected large bills recently so this has all had to go. Pizza parlour wise, choices are now driven by whatever Groupon vouchers my daughters let me have.
So have I got this right?

You were a sweaty youth who wore your old ski suit whilst "playing the old game of sitting in Pizza Hut looking at a load of photos of people getting ** in C&A ski gear"? And now your daughters are into this groupie thing whatever that may be; is that some sort of family tradition?

Phil has nailed it. This chap shouldn’t have a Ferrari. He’s determined to sweat the small stuff, without appreciating the main course.
Imagine buying an amazing holiday villa with the best view/location in the World, and then moaning that the tap dripped.

Probably Ferrari legal dropped him a nice letter…b

I must admit I’ve always rated Maserati fixtures and fittings better than Ferrari, starting with the door handles. Much of the 90s Ferraris have door handles that feel like they’re going to come off in your hand.

Interior design can often be better - Enrico Fumia’s 3200 cabin looks great and is a masterpiece of packaging, makes the 550 (seats and open gate gearshift aside) look a bit ordinary

This chap doesn't want a Ferrari. He wants to make money from social media views and likes.....

I've listed his gripes and in brackets what we would suggest(possible causes)

Steering wheel doesn't drop when entering (battery voltage level)
Seat doesn't move forward when tilted forward (seat reset?)
Leather stitching doesn't look good (personal opinion)
Some bits feel cheap, alcantara doesn't feel expensive. (Personal opinion)
Front not connected to rear - (4 wheel alignment? If not look at suspensions)
Steering wheel shakes when going over 75mph (all cars vibrate a little, 20grams at speed is multiplied, suggest checking trueness of wheels and alignment, brake discs spin too so check these)
Window closure requires greasing as it is squeaky. (Lubricant when cleaning/ checking tyres pressures /oil/water levels on a weekly basis)
Part of seat belt closure falls off. (Glue)
Requires a trickle charger. (Electrical design to maintain alarm, I really doubt his Porsche last 6 months without charging).

My observations.
His neighbours hedge is overgrown on his side.
His driveway is filthy.
Rubbish in front garden
He drives an Audi.
The front gate dressing isn't straight and requires
Fence could do with a luck of paint, looks rotten in places.

My conclusion
He implies that the car has breakdowns when he has to take it in, when they are just niggles. I think he's made this video to get Ferrari to sit up and notice but I doubt they will as it's a second-hand car that they probably haven't supplied to him.
He would probably find faults in the Mona Lisa.

Having had two Maserati 4200 and a Ferrari 456 and a 360 Modena I know a mere amateur compared to Ewan but have a good look at the leather and controls in a Porsche 987 Boxster for starters far superior.

Totally, they knew if the outcome wasn't good for him, he would vent on a dedicated video, and why I didn't know about him no londer having the car.
Disappointed really, because no dedicated video, even with a good (financial) outcome for him returning the car, it looks like he's been bought.

The video I posted seems to have touched a nerve with a few folk, and I wasn't aware that the guy has made others so may have another agenda (and haven't looked for them either).

That said, why shouldn't you expect reliability from a high value product of any sort? Ferrari have been incredibly successful with their marketing strategy, and they trade on the image and customer perception to maintain their standing. Nothing wrong with that I agree, it happens with everything from hairspray to houses, but if a woodstain manufacturer can make a product that 'does what it says on the tin' then so should a car maker, and it would seriously grieve me to be told that a seat need to be removed and stripped for investigation when it actually needed a reset, and when acknowledged faults are allegedly fixed but aren't.

JayEmm's 430 saga does seem to prove a point, does it not?

As it happens I've seen this in the flesh and if I won the lottery it would be on my shopping list, although I might just get a teensy bit annoyed if it broke down - especially after 15 years of reliable Maserati ownership!

Yes I agree, this is not the 70’s /80’s anymore where only the super rich could afford a Ferrari and it was normal to have it in for ridiculously expensive services and repairs on a very regular basis. You can and should expect to get an excellent product for that money. They have come a long way though, I’m not sure if it’s the same in Europe, but here in SA they now come standard with a 7 year warranty/maintenance plan which shows their trust in the product (They started this around 2010 already with the FF/458/California). The guy in the video does seem to be a bit of a whiner and he was all too happy to show off his problem solving skills (i.e. a simple battery reset….he must have had a Maserati at some point :D:p).

Most of his gripes are with the dealer by the sounds of it not Ferrari. Some seem justified especially if they had the car 4 weeks to change the wheels around. Why he didn’t just go somewhere else I don’t know.

The trickle charger thing though is just **** design (same as McLaren apparently) If you can’t park your car at the airport for a 2 week holiday it’s a piece of ****.

In my experience, Ferraris are every bit as well made as other high-end makes (Porsche, Aston, Maclaren, etc), if not better. But it’s not unusual for the odd thing to crop up, or the occasional piece of bad luck or poor customer care. Professional perfection is not easy!
