Is it going to be one of those years for famous people dying?

Absolutely shocked by this, I listened to him in the 90s when he was funny but found his entourage to be sycophantic and like Newton says made me want to turn off. Hence why I like Craig Charles/Steve Lamaqc in the afternoon.

Still 69 is no age and I didn't know that he was ill or had poor health which makes you wonder...

Only DJ who had the ability to have me turn off the radio within 1 second of hearing that nauseating whine; the man had to hear his own voice constantly, be surrounded by sycophants and just assumed he could shorten anyone's name without asking...
I didn't like his presentation style either, I did wonder how he was still on prime time radio with the same show for 30 years.

Talking over the music when he got bored listening to it was another thing that annoyed me

Well I liked Steve Wright!
I liked him until I didn't. 90s was great, was just annoying in the later years and his insistence on talking over music I liked was bloody irritating.

Still sad, though. Mortality, eh? Who'd 'ave it.

Definitely the most listened to radio DJ in my life.
In fact 'Wrighty' was what radio was all about to me. Music, chatting, comedy, just happy and fun.

I remember from an early age coming home from school and listening in the afternoons. I remember memorising the 'Mr Spoons' Rap/song and impressing my school mates the next day lol.

Carried on listening to him right through my life until his afternoon show finished a year or so ago, but still caught his Sunday love songs show occasionally if I happened to turn the radio on.

RIP Wrighty, you'll be missed in my house mate.

Always looked forward to the David Bowie and the Gay Daleks sketches in the 90's. Fond memories.....RIP SW.

Steve Harley has died

That news has really upset me

A few years ago mrs Wack and I had booked a hotel in Cottingham not knowing there was a festival on

Steve Harley was playing that night and tickets were still available

It was one of those gigs that was really enjoyable, you could get 6ft from the stage, no pushing and shoving

Steve and the band nailed the gig, best bit was when he bollocked some members of the audience for filming with the light on their phones illuminated

He didn't take any ****

RIP Steve

Saw him a few times in the 80’s memorably at the Bridge House, Canning Town! One of those old biker pubs where if you hadn’t scored before you got there, you just looked on the sticky carpet! A great performer. RIP
