Le Mans Classic

I know this makes us sound like a pair of overprivileged dicks but Jo and I were remembering when we first went to LeMans in 1986.I was a very tired junior doctor and we set off in the Lancia completely forgetting any tapes. We had Tears for Fears and Brothers in Arms and that was it. I nearly killed us by falling asleep on the way there. After a strong coffee I managed to screw 120mph out of the HPE thinking that you only live once and that he best way to stay awake was to PUSH . An awesome time and we have been back many times to the race but never to the classic. the GT may exceed 120 this year (f the gendarmes). Jo is rooting in the cellar for the CDs!

My new car is ready and waiting for me... But I'm at an exhibition all week in Birmingham so I won't be collecting until Friday!

It'll be a great way to get acquainted with it, very much looking forward to the trip.

As usual, following Le Mans I'll be heading down to Spain for a bit of a beach holiday followed by the mountain roads to Bilbao for the ferry home. 14 days of no emails, bliss.

The classic is very different, but just as good. Enjoy.

It never made it and had to be recovered this evening. The joys of Maserati
Oh no! Better to find out now than in France. Maserati ownership is like pinball; there is a randomness that keeps you alive.[/QUOTE]

I had an XJS follow me home from France one Le Mans many years ago. Bloody thing just turned off and coasted to a halt in a small village. Spent the day waiting for recovery, French mechanics looking at it and shrugging. No replacement car on the breakdown cover, ended up three of us and all our shite crammed into a Mini (the old ones, that were mini, not today's buses) with all our shite. Bloody electrics, it turned out, but it was the rust that eventually killed it.

It must be a week before a trip :p

Luckily it was a massive blow out in the rear tyre. But given that there was a knocking noise from that side after I ran over something on the way back from Bennys , something may have come loose underneath and taken out the rear tyre . We shall see .

Could your liver have come off its mountings at Benny's? Seems likely.
