Cheers guys they all have a bit of Luigi in them but thankfully it was simple to sort in the end but I must admit made me sweat for a while. Always remember the basics though.

Wow what a interesting time I have had and now into the big bucks. She was going fine uphill into a sharp right hander. ASR kicked in and engine stopped. Will not fire up and Carrs Exeter kindly picked me up as the RAC wouldn't take me to a dealer. Problem is the right hand ECU shafted and Ferrari only sell them in pairs at nearly £1300 each plus vat. Good news only lost 1% of my clutch since it was last checked. Got a broken rear gearbox mount which needs doing plus I'm getting its annual done. Second Ferrari and it tells me I really can't afford one but I don't think you can use methadone to curb the addiction. Phil.

Cheers guys. Proof of ownership has been provided along with a copy of my passport and ecu's ordered from the factory. If you play hard you have to work even harder.

Eesh! <wince> Sorry to hear that, Phil.

The acid test though... is she worth it? (I think I know the answer already)

Wow

That's expensive. And aren't you a mechanic?

A good reminder to me about the added costs of Ferrari vs Masser ownership.

With Maserati there are ways around things and enough specialists and know how to make running them not too painful. With a Fezza I'd imagine that isn't quite the same story especially when running cars from say the 360 Era and newer. The 456 was probably the last of the Fezza's which could be run on a similar budget to the likes of the 3200/4200 cars...

I was lucky with the 456 as that had thousands lavished on it before my ownership with a £13,000 bill not long before I got her. The 360 has had thousands lavished on her too and yes I'm a mechanic with 30 plus years experience but with out the factory diagnostics its not easy on this motor and even the dealer has a donor car to swap bits in the process. They have been totally honest and are doing me a good deal so happy days.

Well that is all that matters. Let shope it's a pretty basic fix and for your piece of mind sometimes it makes sense to use brand new parts.

I agree buying certain second hand parts for cars is not good practice IMHO. Ecu's, engine parts, any electrical parts sensors etc should be all new original parts.

When it is explained to you by the people with all the knowledge you know there is only one way to go. There are plenty of expert's on the forums but you realise many have never owned one of our cars. Moral is listen to those that know and live and breathe them the same as us.

I had that issue all the time when I had a 308GT4 but mine was a dampness issue from condensation with no garage for overnight parking. Very embarrassing when a lorry could pull away from the lights quicker. Doubt that's the problem though with a modern Ferrari. Good luck sorting it

Cheers Peter been there and read loads as I say there are a lot of internet experts out there. One thing I know is living with a 360 F1 its a far more complex than a 4200 which I have kept going myself for nearly 4 years as a daily driver. Plus too much money tied up in the 360 to create further problems.
