That is a very nice car. I am glad people with your passion are still around, will give the kids something to see in the future to remind them what a real car was.

Thanks for your kind words mate :)

Its true, these days kids have no idea what its like to drive a pure car with no electronics and stuff...

Well, next job on the list is the dashboard.... Not really looking forward to this, I think I've mentioned that before, but it has to be done if I'm gonna move forward !

Thing is that I've bought a brand new dashboard from the dealership years ago, which turns out it was for the S2 Sprint and not my S3.
Difference is where the heater blower sits on the vents tunnel. It needs to be modified, otherwise it wont sit !

I've put the dashboard in before, but havent bolted it on as it was a real pain getting it to fit and I didnt want to damage it.
Now I have to take it off again, see how to modify the tunnel and install it properly

I think I'm gonna do this on Saturday

Sounds like a pig Chris, but a man of your capability will have it sorted in now time.

Good luck!

First of all, Happy new year to you all :)

Second, I've removed my new dashboard from the car, to take a closer look at the problem

The plastic housing of another cars heater/blower housing, was compared and looks exactly the same, so my theory about the tunnel being longer does not apply.

What I HAVE noticed though, and I was quite surprised, is that on the dashboard, right under the drivers instruments (speedo, rev etc), my New dashboard is connected on top from one side to the other, and then just has a hole under there for the steering rack to pass through.

I've compared it to 2 other dashboards (off an S2 and an S3), and that section - which is actually a thin stripe - does not exist !!!

Now, they way I see it, when my dashboard was test fitted on my Sprint, that stripe would rest ON the top of the steering rack mount - therefore restricting it from getting lower.
So... if I cut that section off, then the dashboard would be able to be tilted in , and by default, move down as well, as the top mounting bolts are a steady point !

I wanted to see if anyone else has pictures of his dashboard without the speedo clusters installed, so I can be sure before I chop off the new dashboard :/
Is there anyone here who can help me with some pictures ?

Otherwise, I'll just take the plunge and go ahead :)

Hi!

In the evening, when I get home, I'll send you some pics of the dashboard on Facebook or here. I think I have a few from my old Sprints.

Regards!

thanks a lot mate :) I prefer if you can post them on the forum for me :)
Much easier to go back for reference rather than on facebook :)

By the way, your sprint looks fantastic !

Maybe you can start a new thread for it and show us some pictures and specs ? That would be nice ;)

Thank you! Unfortunately I no longer own the red Sprint. I sold it many yeas ago for some stupid reasons, that I regret now. :(
Right now I own a Silver S1 Trofeo, that needs to be restored, with some mods. ;) But now I don't really have the time and money for it. So it's waiting for better days.
In a few years it'll be a stunner! :D

But back to you, I think this is what you need although it's an s1:

next up, I'll need to make a serious modification to my radiator fan / fans, so I can fit everything else in place and be able to do the coolant plumbing and mount the alternator and engine wiring....

This is a bit of a headache as it requires that I'm calm and not tired :)

I saw a thread on AlfaBB that just involved cutting the fan cowl and rotating the fan motor mounts.......
