Thanks - I love the fact it spawned a load of lookalikes (3500GT, DB Aston series, Austins and Peugeots et al.) and yet somehow looks more modern than all of them. Pininfarina founder, Battista Farina said of the Florida II show car on which it was based that it was the only one to go to heaven in.

Interesting that they're chrome. On the S1 Fulvia, the bumpers are stainless steel.

Yeah. They are pretty heavy lumps - probably weigh as much as an S1 Fulvia. My old 1972 Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV had stainless steel bumpers - much better idea - and yet my 1971 Ghibli SS has heavy steel/chrome jobbies. It’s odd that the Italians used both. I wonder if it was a supply issue? The Ghibli cost three times the Alfa when new, so you’d think it would have stainless ones.

The ashtray was missing from the Flaminia when I bought it. I didn’t notice when I fell for her. Just wondered why there was a plinth on the transmission tunnel with two lonely screws.

Thought it’d be an easy fix, but no, they were attached to Ferrari 250s, some Maserati and some Astons. eBay price for one with the wrong badges c. £1,000+. Without a badge c. £650.

Stuck a wanted ad in the Lancia club mag just in case and a chap suggested he sent me two busted ones for £25. He reckoned they might make one good one between them if I could dismantle them and swap the lids. Spent two hours in the shed with some elbow grease and hey presto he was right.

Given the jet-set back story of her previous owner Countess Agusta, I wonder if she just wore the original ashtray out?

Well Done indeed back in the day when smoking was stylish.
Could be a place to pop in a spare face mask nowadays. Come to think of it, how long before car designers start including face mask holders? Or is that an after market opportunity for someone?
