And so young in comparison to today's life expectancy.

I am sure his injuries would have contributed to his early passing...RIP

Just seen this. Very sad indeed. Fond memories of F1 and the great battles he had with James Hunt. RIP.

Legend is the only word, how he got back in a car after that crash is beyond belief.

Lung transplant 9 months ago and never really recovered, another great from my childhood gone.

70 years old, but as Bruce said, 'Life is measured in achievements, not in years alone'.
Three world championships with two manufacturers in two decades, built up three successful airlines, was consultant to all the big teams. Ferrari, Jaguar, Mercedes.
He'll be sadly missed.

Sad news indeed. The stubbornness in refusing to die embodies why he was such a great driver.

Very noisy at the Pearly gates this morning....drift it through Nicki. RIP

RIP Nicki, a true legend of F1 and had balls of steel for getting back in to the driving seat so soon after that horrific accident

From what I have seen and read he always had a black & white view of life but he thought differently to most. Two of his quotes show this

"I've been through a lot and I realise the future can't be controlled. I'm not worried. You can always learn to overcome difficulties."

"You appreciate that it is very easy to die and you have to arrange your life to cope with that reality."

A very special man and the like of which we probably won't see again

Sorry...........Don't mean to steal Nicki's thunder but this is a brilliant picture of James Hunt, I think it says it all about that time in F1 when they drove hard and partied the same way. Not at all like todays calculated races there Rapp Stars!!.............I doff my cap to the both of them.56991on tactics and tattooed drivers thinking
