Christopher at Askham Hall may be able to lay something on for you, dabbles with an older Ferrari and is an all round petrol head.

Check this place out. Storrs Hall.
We used to visit this place for a spot of lunch when we had our lovely QP. ( those were the days)
Stunning spot right on Lake Windermere. (road out of Windermere heading towards Newby Bridge)

It is pretty impressive; nearly stayed there last time passing through, but too expensive and there was a wedding going on.

We have stayed at Cragwood, which has a couple of nice rooms and some great views, but the food was a bit dull.
And at the Wild Boar - horrible motel-standard modern room but great food.
Also the Pheasant at Bassenthwaite - an nice inn with a fishing lodge vibe, with good food.
(But this was a while ago - who knows what they are like now).

The Pheasant was taken over, which was a shame because it had a genuine characterful 'lived in' feel. Not been during covid times, but fear it might not be as it once was. (It's only 10 minutes from me.)

The route shown is very scenic, but also very busy unless early or late.

Stayed at the Phesant last summer.

Food has taken a hit, but that may be down to Covid... but I would eat there again.

Storrs Hall is nice, but you will be stuck with all the tourists traffic around Bowness.

Wild Boar is as Mark said good for food and huge portions... stay there when going to Havering with work... but preferred the Punchbowl.

Lakes roads are well surfaced at the moment, but awful in season with traffic.

Here's a nice pub, with a good road to get there. However, this year, everywhere in the Lakes will be super busy from Monday onwards.

I know lots of great pubs and restaurants here.

Here's another (I know the owners and could possibly organise parking)...

Here's another great pub also in the Lythe valley, in Crosthwaite.
Fantastic food, lovely bar just a great place. Had our 30th wedding anniversary lunch there.

Not been to the Pheasant before but always keep meaning to. But normally go to the Lakes Distillery across the road which is consistently good for a spot of lunch...and a whisky of course.
Storrs Hall is a great place with a stunning backdrop, but it is a bit pricey but much quieter than some of the places around Bowness etc.

Storrs is another place that was sold, it used to be privately owned by two Antiquities dealers and was exquisitely furnished in superb taste.
I got married there.

Wife and I had 5 nights here last year (between lockdowns). Beautiful view of the lack from our room, the hotel is lovely and we may well be going back this October.

Here's one that I'm fortunate to be able to walk to, lovely pint of Loweswater Gold...
My wife has just told me she has actually booked this place for our next trip ( I am always the last to know) she fancies the spa facilities.
A nice room with balcony with lake view.

Feel free to drop me a pm if you want to meet up, it's not far from me at all.

Will do - not sure we will be in the Maserati though as Mrs Scaf does not enjoy enthusiastic driving - most likely we will be in the Jaaaaag XJ.

Just drive the Mas slowly.... No, wait....

(MrsMM and I will be processing at a gracious rate up to Edinburgh in the QP fairly soon)

That looks like a lovely spot. You are deep in the Lake District!
