I'll aim to be at Lymm 8.30/45 to set off at 9am. I'm sure my neighbours will love the 7.30 departure on Bank Holiday Monday!

Heh. My neighbours will love me too. I'll have to leave earlier and shuffle the cars to get the Cali out of the garage. Will aim to get to Lymm for a similar time.

I've arranged to meet a TVR mate at the gate so he doesn't get lost so I'll see you all there...........Look forward to seeing you all again and meeting new ones!

Dave has asked if we can be there for 9.30 am, so if I remember correctly from all those years ago before the pandemic, that would mean leaving Lymm Services at 9.00, picking up the oddities at The Riverside at Acton Bridge at 9.15, and so getting to Oulton at 9.30.
I will be one of the oddities, and will be at The Riverside. Is anyone else going to go there rather than to Lymm?
I am really looking forward to the pleasure of seeing you all!
PS Hate to mention it, but a major meeting at Oulton Park tends to be one of the rare occasions when we actually see any of the fine men and women of Cheshire Constabulary - particularly on the stretch of the A49 between the A556 and the A 54. There is a layby which is a very convenient place to site a radar trap!
I’d have liked to join in on this but I’m currently on Leeds festival pick up, waiting in a field. God knows when I’ll be home.
Pesky teenagers, who’d have them!

Back home, thanks Terry for organising this with Ferrari Dave.
Had a good run over but after the painfully slow queue into Oulton Park, when parking up 'cambiocorsa' decided that after giving her such a hard life in the crawling traffic, I didn't deserve to get reverse, and forget about any forward gears too! just neutral, she had had enough, with only the red gearstick warning light. A quick ignition on and off got me reverse and second to park up.
Decided to turn everything off at the battery while there, and on restart over 3 hours later all back to normal. Perfectly behaved the 50 miles back home, including stop start traffic on the M56, and maneuvering back into the garage at home.
Go figure?

Good to see some friendly faces today. Things seem like they’re starting to get back to normal. Few photos (no Masers ):89858898598986089870898628986389864898658986689867

It probably didn't help that the parking attendant felt that you had parked 3 inches too far forward, ruining his perfect aligned parking!

He just kept barking instructions at you even though you clearly couldn't get in gear.

There was a lot of Porsche!
This actual 928GT I tried to buy 10 years ago before buying the Maserati. He changed his mind and kept it. £20k at the time.
I found our original email correspondence and dropped him an email to complement him on its condition. It's now insured for £50k, and in '17 he bought a tired manual 928GTS for £42k, then immediately spent another £26k on it

He did say at one point he would push me into position! before I managed to get reverse after restart.

He was a pain in the @rse!.........He was the sort of guy who could bore you about talking about your own car! I made a 'B' line for anything else when I felt him approaching me...
Good to meet up with you all again. Would have been nice if the sun made an appearance though!

We've often picked up stragglers at The Riverside Inn Acton Bridge if that's any better for you?

My god Riverside Inn that takes me back.

We use to always do Gold Cup when it was Easter weekend and the main event was single seaters, F1 and F5000 boys as well as the tin tops. Aunt lived round the corner and I do remember stopping at her house to put a couple of lads in the boot to save entry fees :)

It was good to meet up and chat for a bit. Even though parking apartheid had me stuck over with the red trousers.

That did come into its own when they moved Terry though. I had a lovely spot for the picnic table.

The racing was fun. A few incidents and car failures to spice things up. Things are improving but for the Gold Cup it was a little lacking in stalls from previous years.

Very enjoyable day and great to catch up with old and new. Some lovely cars around and entertaining racing at times.

It did feel like the whole thing has got a bit more commercial with the massive auction tent in the middle where we usually park, less local stores and no rally demos. I suppose they've got to try to recover lost revenue somehow.

I rather liked the idea of the car auction, though.

Really great to see so many old faces looking so young!

PS I have sent a message of thanks to Ferrari Dave on all our behalf.

Great day as usual at the Gold Cup, down on numbers i think but a fair old number of Italians out and many thanks to Dave once again for greeting us all with his usual chirpiness.

As mentioned, I sent Dave a message of thanks, and he has replied that the Maserati folk are the nicest and easiest group to deal with.
Maybe that's because we don't break down when leaving the park!!!.......Someone's very nice 42 in the background!!
