As many of you know, I’m an idiot, and i thought that buying a 2005 QP was a good idea. It’s the ex-Arfa car (hello mate) that is known to many members for a long time. It was a bargain and is far, far from being a fixer upper. I’ve already had the interior restored and set about several small items such as the heated seat switch. Next job is to sort some paint as it’s not exactly the same colour here and there but not too bad. It’s been fully serviced, new battery and is now being used daily. So much car for the money.

I blame lockdown for me having the determination to make the car 100% again.

It’s got a massive history file, recent clutch at Marios’s and had had it’s subframe rustproofed for a few years now, recoated at service just last month. X-pipe to come soon to compliment the Larini cats and hollow back boxes.

These cars are really far cheaper than they should be.

I remember the car, and Arfa, very distinctive. Looks like a great buy and nice to see it in good hands.

Thread title made me think there was an old fashion joke coming... think the joke is how cheap these cars go for...looking nice.

Brilliant Athol as mad as ever. When you have the best Italian four seater already you go out and buy a (much cheaper) different one to fill your head with fear. Give me a shout if you are coming up to Perth in it.

Chapeau!
It is brave move to many eyes. I agree that *"you cannot lose" buying early QPV just now. Even if something breaks costing more than your appetite, selling the car even as parts would get back a huge chunk. Compared to the depreciation on something newer I would take the hit.

*assuming this ain't your first rodeo.

Very interested to see you do this Athol. I am also presently thinking about swapping my Volvo XC90 for a 2005 QP5. I have such fond memories of my first one, and the Volvo only does about 3-5000kms a year, so it’s a bit wasted. Will follow your experience with great interest.

What does a decent duoselect fetch these days? Obviously I am being nosey.
Looking at autotrader the better QPV are meeting the first QPVI in price. Taken on looks alone, who would prefer the newer car? (given ti might be diesel too)

Those colours are rather nice... shows every speck of dirt so you know when to wash it ... ;-)

I'm couldn't agree more with this thread. I'm also on a mission to shape up my 2005 QPV. Over the past few months had new clutch, x-pipe and have scheduled to have my headlining done. Definitely worth a lot more than the market prices.
