Such a lovely car...That's not the first review I've seen that says the interior on the GT is dated....Don't see it myself....

The thing he is right about is the dated transmission. After driving a M5 DCT it makes this feel extremely old tech.

Phil, agree...Maserati have always been behind with this technology.....I know I've said it before but when I had the CSL and test drove a Gransport I couldn't believe how slow the changes were and the CSL was not the best box at the time...Now a Golf GTi box is better than the Maserati box......It's as if Ferrari wouldn't move it on for fear of a Maserati being a better car than one of theirs as lets face it they have had the double clutch type box but didn't want to share........Things have moved on fast with this type of gear box and unfortunately Maserati for what ever reasons hasn't. Think that's why the Auto box gets better press than the MC Shift and by the looks of things all Maserati will be Auto going forward.

Moved to a decent ZF box in the Ghibli now. The Ghibli diesel I drove was flawless and even though it wasn't DCT tech it was way better than the MCS box.

My GS is the first paddle shift I've driven and love it. As I've nothing to compare it with. When I took my friend out for a drive. He has m5. He said it was just a smooth change as his.

M5 has the SMG-2 box which is pretty good once you get used to it, some hate it though and say it is slow and very lurchy but that's more likely them only having driven it for a short period of time and not lifting between the changes and at the sweet spot in the rev range. The lift makes all the difference to smoother changes and logically like a manual car it is the correct way of driving an automated clutch car. People jump in using the paddles and assume that they can keep their foot planted as if it were an automatic.

Steve, the GS box is fine...I love driving them....But try a modern box and you will see what we mean.

Since I had the great Voicey adjust my PIS, the car is transformed. I actually take it *out* of sport mode. Makes maneuvering an absolute pleasure. Sport mode takes off like a scalded cat.

Great video, thanks for sharing.

Have forwarded it on to a pal of mine who is in the market for a new motor, I think he would be reluctant to get into a Maserati seeing I have just got one, but this could tip him over the edge haha.

Bentley Continental Supersports or DBS are looking the most likely for him but the thing that really struck him about the Maserati when I took him out in mine was how exotic it is. It just has a je ne sais quoi that is incredibly hard to replicate even when spending £20k-£30k more.....

A superb video with an excellent presenter, though if I had that kind of money to spend I might look for a good 550 instead.

Doesn't the MC Shift have the same robotic gear box as the Ferrari 599?

I drove a C63 AMG a couple of weeks ago and whilst the gear box is far far superior than the MCS in auto. I found it to be too unengaging in manual. It lacked soul for me and you might as well drive it in auto all the time.

It is probably just me though. I didn't like how perfect it was. It was just click click click and you are whatever gear you wanted to be in.

Great video, reminds me of how close I have been in the past to getting a Stradale myself (albeit off the used market). I particularly like the latest incarnation style-wise, and that noise is to die for.

But 110K (or more like 120-130K with options?) is very, very steep for a gearbox and engine block that actually pre-date the 2007 GranTurismo.

My 4C has a dual clutch and plenty of very fresh R&D - yet it cost less than half the price of an MC Stradale.

I would still have a new Stradale though, if I could afford it!

I can truly say I'm a right foot peddle lifter

Right foot hard down for me right through the box when I'm feeling rampant, I just love it, lightening fast..!!
