I'll have to pull my finger out and get something suitable for Le Mans. I'm not sure the Jag could take that much abuse again.
Although it was handy for getting 7 of us back from the track on the Saturday night!

If you fancy an alternative to the Gite, then following a successful inaugural year in 2019 letting our apartment in the Cheval Blanc building directly opposite the Hotel de France in Le Chartre Sur Le Loir, we are now taking bookings for 2020. This building was also a hotel up until the end of the last century, and was the place where several of the post-race Aston Martin team parties were held in the 1950's, including the infamous drinking competition in 1958 after all the cars retired during the night and the team went to drown their sorrows!

As you may know, there is a long waiting list for rooms at the HdeF during race events, and you can't book in for the 24H for love nor money. The alternative is the rental of our well equipped private apartment, which sleeps up to 4 and has a fabulous grandstand view of the hotel and all the cars, personalities and action in the square below. You can now eat, drink and mingle with these famous drivers and other personalities past and present this year without the long wait for a room!

We have already taken a booking and deposit from a Forum member for the 2020 Classic (much appreciated; you know who you are!) but if this sounds of interest for the 24H or any other dates for 2020, please visit our website for details and booking:

Looking at changing things up a bit next year. One suggestion is to get to gites one day early then have one big bbq meet up at one of the gites (happy to host at La Maison) on Thursday then come back on Sunday and stay at hotel on the way back to Cherbourg.

Any other suggestions gratefully received

I am very envious of those of you who can make this trip again, my first trip last year was awesome and I will definitely try and get on the list again sometime in the future. But for 2020 I just can’t commit - enjoy guys you know it will be a blast.

Exactly what i said to Matt i agree, its nice to get to gite early and have something to do at night whether yours or Rose and Crown etc......but maybe on a Thursday, use the Wednesday to just relax a little from the first night madness.

Course you can commit, Sam. Your sudden commital on the way back to the hotel in Honfleur is the stuff of legend.

Are you going soft in your old age Dem?

If we get to a Gite or the Rose, the usual carnage will ensue, that is 100% guaranteed. In fact it will probably be worse!

I may well come as entertainment - and to finally find whoever got me drunk

We were in a round, but you were drinking gins like they were water. And they were huge!
We must have had about 4 rounds then you were too busy trying to speak to some French ladies at the bar to converse with us Brits!

Imho, it was you who got you drunk!
