What a tragic waste of a truly beautiful car. The rally version was so much prettier.

Agree with Yeti, what a waste, imagine how much would have cost to convert to twin turbo plus the price of the car, losing a lot of money there.

I dont know about fun, i bet it is a b*stard to drive, i imagine it will have huge turbo lag and spin the wheels in 3rd gear.

I know this car well. I know the owner too. It's an amazing piece of work. Ridiculously powerful it's a ground up recreation of the original Grp5 car. It has raced in the past and was built to compete in a class that didn't materialise in the end.

I have photos of it taken at the 2008 Abingdon CARnival sprint day somewhere. One of the drivers that day was a close pal of mine who rallies and sprints Stratos replicas. He found it a real handful and he span the car more than once.

It's been offered for sale several times over recent years. A monster of a car.

:)

ETA: Here's a shot of my mate Dave Watson launching the car off of the line back in 2008.

And, here she is at the front of a queue of Stratos reps also at Abingdon.

Increasingly tempted by a Hawk HF3000. All the fun of a restoration with non of the tin worm. £15K'ish and 3/400 hours spent happily tinkering and voila....... one of the worlds most iconic motors to blast around Llandow in. Hmmm, now where did I put me bank managers number?

...one and the same....you'll feel suicidal when he tries to call the loan in......

P

I actually have a very trusting relationship with my bank manager P. I entrust him with all my hard-earned for which he returns zero interest and swinging transaction charges, and he trusts that I don't minding him investing said hard earned in highly complex monetary vehicles, the returns from which he then uses to enhance his bonus, which when I quiz him he says is necessary to keep the wolf from the door of his 7 bedroom pied a terre on the Costa del Criminal. Come to think of it, trust isn't the right word, it's probably endure. Well when I say endure I probably mean........... Okay that's it, I'm changing banks.....

Well, head over to this forum;

http://stratosec.com/Forum/forum.php

It's that of the Stratos Enthusiasts' Club. Of which I am a member. We talk everything Stratos. With special emphasis on replicas, building and running thereof.

Here's my little runaround. (Any excuse :) ) in a photo taken at last year's Autosport show.

It would leave my 4200 for dead in the twisty stuff. Before hurling itself off of the road in a terminal lift off oversteer spin.

Thanks Elliot, I'll get myself over there and do some research. Regards, Em.
