I don't know, do tell us why.

So if I get this right you used to make aircraft parts and now you make bricks?

No, I used to make aircraft parts and now I lay bricks (among other construction type activities, none of which I like)
I started my engineering apprenticeship at 16 and was a machinist for 11 years.
Took voluntary redundancy and went to work with my father in law on building sites.
Went back to college and passed my nvq's in trowel occupations and I've been in construction ever since.

So you have gone from building jet engines as an apprentice to a brick layer?

Gone from making parts for various planes (not building jet engines) as a skilled man to the construction industry (also as a skilled man) for much more money
Do you need this explained more simply ?

I'm not having a go but is it really hard work driving a bus?

Depends what you mean by hard work, but try to think about spending 8 or 9 hours on the road with one 30 to 40 min break in the middle of the shift, 5 days a week, 100% eyes on the road to mind read all other idiots on the road plus dealing with whats going on in the bus.

Then think about 10 tons (empty) and changes to 13 tons when the bus fills up with people and changes the way you have to brake and drive, I could go on forever about how hard it is.

Think about 50 people on a bus, if I have to stop or hit anything then thats 50 claims for whiplash and my job gone? car drivers never give a bus enough room and think we are slow and get ****** off because it takes us time to pull out or cross a small roundabout that makes them have to slow down! then I have to deal with all the misfits of life and tickets......... CALM and going to sleep now lol

Truth is though, the grass always seems greener. And the next fellas job will always seem better than your own.
But, you tend to get on with it, make friends along the way and tolerate work.
There are exceptions to this rule though, not everyone will make friends at work.
There's one notable job that springs to mind, and I wouldn't want that one ;)
