Got a feeling nothing is going to be allowed to happen car wise until the Autumn at the earliest...
Until we all get the vaccine!

Could do a Scotland tour, Fort William etc. Maybe include a Whiskey Distillery tour at the same time.
MrsU and I spent yesterday afternoon creating and booking our own North Coast 500 tour - in SM style I've named it the Scotch Bonnet 500...
Starting from (excluding the hike from Oxfordshire to just north of Glasgow) Fort William area on the 13th September heading across to Invergordon, up to Wick / John O Groats - across the top towards Thurso - Lairg - Drumbeg (up to Durness). Poolewe / Applecross / Strathcarron back to Fort William on the 23rd September. 2 days back in the Lake District before the hike back to Ox'
Accommodation is disappearing rapidly - availability on the far north west coast is virtually zero - hence the diversion down to Lairg and across to Drumbeg (nothing in that corner). We'll do a day trip up to Durness anyway. Estimated mileage - 1700 miles round trip.
If anyone wants to link up on the tour I can let you know the where and when around the coast :) - might even do a sticker for it

Scotch Bonnet 500

Love it!

If you're in Ft William, The Crannog is a fantastic restaurant.

If we can't make Mexico in October, we'll be thinking of something similar. Not going to book it now and and cancel though.

Cool - thanks for the restaurant tip. We've managed to book everything with free cancellation up to a few days/weeks before each date (using Booking.com) and pretty much all of them are either pay on arrival or 1 week before the date of the stay - so just in case things go pear shaped again we should be OK. Scotch Bonnet seemed too good to let pass by :)

...are you looking forward to finally getting to post lockdown?

Ace Cafe seems many moons ago and can’t wait for Le Mans but I do think it will still be a closed doors event again in 2021.

Would like to do a new UK one, any suggestions. I think we should have a drive out to it.
Your brother summarised it perfectly, Matt: "God I need to go to France on a massive bender with a load of mentally ill alcoholics."

And if France has, as a consequence of unfathomable decisions, been required to ferme its porte d'entree to us eager adventurers, then a fvckwits' few days away somewhere on this little island of ours would suit pretty nicely. North or west. Or both.

I'll upgrade that recommendation.

It is one of the best fish restaurants I've ever eaten in (once on our post honeymoon tour. Once on a stupid thing from work where we flew to Scotland for dinner

Last time we went it was November, Saturday night. Hissing it down with rain and it was booked solid until 2130 at night (we'd booked in advance).

When we can move around again in France for us it will be down to Bordeaux for a few days and then into the peace and tranquility of Northern Spain.
Can't wait to get back there.

Fab - I wouldn’t mind sharing the route if you want. I always wanted to drive the NC500. Thanks

I'll put up the list of where and when and anyone can dip in or out as timings suit then. I'll start it as a new thread :luvit:

Sounds like similar to what I did with @midlifecrisis last September. We binned off Applecross as the roads were apparently the same as the day before and they were hideous for low slung motors in some parts. The rest was all fine though. JOG is a bit dull so I wouldn't bother doing that corner again.

Caffeine and the machine is over rated. It's a house on a country road with lots of parking. ArtisANAL Coffee brewed by a bloke with a beard and checked shirt (see above).
Oh and you have to pay for the pleasure.

We went to a couple of friendly evening car meets near-ish C&M a couple of years ago - one at Kineton (where met a well organised Maser owner who had a boot full of booze!) and the other at a nice pub - the Bell in Alderminster
