Depends if it hydrolocked because the car was underwater, or just splash from a deep puddle? If the whole car was not subjected to water, then he might be right. All the same I would expect 20-30% less for a cat D car.

I had a hydrolocked 4200 that had been competently repaired, no issues since. Wasn't a cat car but it was still reasonably priced.

Depends how it got hydrolocked, the 4200 had a low air intake. Where is it on the DB9?

I'd never buy another cat car unless I was planning on running it into the ground , unless you've got pictures of the pre repaired condition of the car everybody assumes it's been wrapped round a tree and battered out with a lump hammer and filled.

They're impossible to sell on , when I sold mine the trade were offering 50% of book

They should be able to sell on, it's all down to price. 25-30% reduction when purchased , same when selling, I've never had any issues. A lot of people don't want a cat car which is fair enough, but what about the ones that get repaired and don't go through the insurance, there a lot of them too.

Why would you bother?... DB9s are hardly scare and given how hard it will be to shift in the future as a CAT car, let alone a thirsty V12.

for the simple reason i can not afford a straight one of the generation that I want. db9's start privately at circa 25k for a 450bhp, 35k for a 470bhp and 55k for the 510 bhp db9.2 (Virage)

the 470 is the one i want, basically a detuned DBS engine exhaust and gearbox. the db9.2 is a detuned vanquish mk ii engine
