Wolf's Body Wrap

Hi all,

I thought I'd share a new detailing product that I've just applied to my car...

As my wife will attest, I'm quite fussy with the paint on my car and have a cupboard full of various waxes, polishes and sealants etc. I spend a fair bit of time on keeping it looking as good as a 10 year old car can be.

I have read a lot about nano-technology coatings that promise great looks but without the constant need for products to be aplied on a regualr basis. Wolf's Body Wrap is one such product.

I am fairly sceptical by nature and have believed that hard work is the only way to keep the car looking great but I bought this for my wife's Audi which lives outside and is exposed to the Australian sun and elements and I dont have the time to devote to three cars.

Anyway, I thought I'd give it a try on the Maser as it was due for a re-application of wax. To cut a long story short, a day spent stripping the old wax and applying the Body Wrap with no real expectation of the result.

I think the photos speak for themselves and I am blown away with the level of shine and gloss. The whole car glows and looks like its made of luminescent glass. It has to be seen to be believed.

The promise is a useful life of up to 12 months if washed with their nano-shampoo and a 6 monthly top up with their spray detailer. For those of you who love to see your car looking great but dont necessarily have the time to spend, this might be what you need.

BTW, my car is in good to very good condition but not flawless by anymeans. This product did a lot to minimise the paint defects as well.

I hope this helps someone out there.

Regards,

Neil

Neil, how did it do with masking swirl marks, you know, the ones that make your car look like they have been cleaned with a brillo pad when the midday sun hits it?

Geoff, truck wash it pretty effective at stripping off wax, a couple of goes and it will be virgin paintwork. Ask your local Hertz or similar car hire centre what they use.

G'day guys,

Thanks for the kind words... The product is good but is no better than a good wax in terms of gloss. It offers only a little in the way of filling or concealing. I would guess it conceals minor swirls but not much more. My paint was in good condition as I did a paint correction on it around six months ago.

I used Chemical Guys Citrus Wash to strip the wax then a wipe down of Isopropyl alcohol before applying the Body Wrap. I purchased the Wolf's Body Wrap and the other products from carcareproducts.com.au and I know it's available in the UK as well. It's $50 for a very small bottle but I used only a fifth of it for the whole car. The shampoo and quick detailed is another $80 but you only need the shampoo first up as the QD isn't required for around 4-6 months.

For the average punter getting your trusted detailer to do it is the most effective way but for the hard core enthusiasts who already have an arsenal including a rotary buffer and cutting compounds you can DIY. The advantage is that it only requires a weekly wash to keep looking good and should last 12 months.

This product requires your paint to be swirl free and in good to very good condition. What it does offer is a way to keep that look for a lot longer than would otherwise be possible with conventional waxes. I was a little excited about how good it looked but I need to stress that my paint looked almost this good with a normal glaze and wax. This is a fantastic product but the real benefit is longevity with minimum user intervention.

The plates are really growing on me.... I wanted 3200GTA but local regs wouldn't allow manufacturer specific plates so Nettuno sorta came out of the blue.

Regards,

Neil

Stunning results , im old school where waxing is concerned , but as im getting older and tire easily, ease of application is gonna be no 1 , must say that having good weather most of the year does help somewhat , cars in the uk get dirty so quickly what with the changeable weather , Rosso cars always look their best in the sun IMHO

Hi Neil,
I answered my own question as I looked on the Car Care Products website and noticed they have the Wolf's products.
It seems quite good value, particularly if it lasts as long as the periods you have suggested.
I had my car detailed recently and the person that did the work said the car shampoo you use after the wax application must be PH neutral.
He said very few of the commonly available washes are, particularly the high pressure commercial washes that seem to be everywhere now.
Funny how WA has a totally different registration plate policy to Victoria (& the other states?); we are limited to six letters / numbers where WA allows up to 8 don't they?

I'm just the same Loz, I like to apply a wax every month but also time and effort takes its toll and the results don't last long. I'm hoping this will be a way of minimising the work needed to maintain the good looks.

There's a lot more information available on the "detailing world" forum about Body Wrap and a couple of other similar type coatings.

I think up to 9 numbers or letters in WA but there are about four different kinds of prestige plates available in WA.
