Given the state of me I probably thought I had pulled a tall French lady, smelling like a urinal.

We may have found the source of my dark brown wee issue. It is coming back to me very slowly!

You don't want that back, Damo, surely? I remember fondly your triumphant shout from the trackside porta-crapper: "it's yellow!".

Euroshittle yesterday. It was shiite.

Incidentally, this is where we had dinner in Bernay

Matt, thanks as ever for organising a superb trip.

Reading the reports here of the palaver of getting across the water I can thoroughly recommend heading south after the race. Seriously, can I suggest an optional bolt on to next year's trip for those that are interested.

Just spent a couple of days tearing across deserted mountain roads and now sunning myself in 30c in the Playa Blanca.

Bloody ****, Frank. You drove to a war?? I thought it was Ben who who off to have a mooch round some battlefields, not you.

82 litres at the Esso just the right side of the tunnel. I'd have had the hump if I'd run out getting on the train...

Hoyin - are you still on for an x-pipe?

Interestingly after driving in the down pour heading to Calais my valves have stuck. So they don't open when I put it into sport.

So I need that looked at.

Never was in for the X-Pipe. But I want the other bits .... I want performance not noise.

Yeah, I had exactly the same issue. They're pretty craply designed because the workings are exposed to the elements, in this case 300 miles of Biblical rains. They probably just need lubing. I use motorbike chain oil. It's a job for later in the week.

Coming home yesterday my valves stuck open when not in SPORT mode. Seem to have freed up now but will keep an eye on them.

Probably, but climb underneath the back and just to the side of the back boxes you'll see the valve mechanism. Push each side in against the spring to loosen things up (only when cold!) and then squirt liberally with oil around the spring and where the "axle" of the valve is exposed on the side of the pipe. Easy job, even for a buffoon like me.

Us too! Right opposite where Damo lost his shirt. And his shoes. It wasn't great, to be honest. Really nice building and service but the steak was a bit ropey.

It was great losing my shoes until it was used as a shoulder mounted ashtray!

And if you are drunk, wear the clothes of a man 3 times bigger than oneself and can speak French you get a pair of signed clogs from the chef at the Bistro:
