It is a bit crazy, but Alfa do have a sporting heritage as well. I'm looking at this as FCA know that Alfa are the way that they will be profitable. If they can make a successful tilt at the Germans with Alfa then the volumes will mean the FCA make a lot of money. Maserati is, unfortunately, secondary to this. Its more of a niche luxury brand. What I would hope for is more, higher specced versions at the top end. V8s in everything.

3.9 in an SUV with that styling. I wish that was available March 2017, would solve all my problems

Alfa are really trying to build the brand again.....Most bring out the bread amend butter models first but Alfa is pushing the image with the halo cars first hoping that that this will sell more base more models. Seems a good plan.

I could see that working well...people aspire to the top of the range model when the car is new, but may have to plumb for a less powerful one due to costs...but they still have a new model.

or if you release the low end ones first then the image is of a low end range until the halo one is released but by then its an older model and the competition has moved on.

INterviews with FCA bigwigs have always said there would be an overalap between Alfa and Maserati. In this case the top of the range Alfa is around the same price as what is in effect, the bottom of the range Maserati.. Where the plan falls down a little is the fact that there is no top of the range Levante!
