Looks OK, not great though, fitting with current Alfa styling trends.

I quite like an SUV, they suit my daily needs does my Audi Q3.

The problem, any Alfa on lease cost a fortune due to them plummeting like a stone.

They are not the worst though. I didnt think the 156 and the 159's did too badly on the depreciation front. I managed to get my first 156 on lease for the money as a mondeo. I bought it from the lease company for a steal at the end of the lease and then part exchanged against another 156 18 months after that. Part ex value was £350 more than i had paid for it.

Generally dislike SUVs but that Alfa is more than acceptable.

True about the depreciation.

Nothing like buying a new Alfa then three years later, seeing a teenage learner driver in the same model.

Where's the logic in that statement? So FCA need a £30-40k SUV but not a £60-70k one?

What an odd looking thing - I don't hate it but it doesn't really have much style & flair about it for me

How many SUVs are available for 30k and how many at 70k?
When you look at the lower bracket there's some tough competition, Ford Kuga, Mini Countryman, Honda CRV etc all good quality cars but when you hit the 70k there's Land Rlver and Porsche and they are in a league of their own, no Chrysler car can compete in terms of ability.

They are relying on badge whereas the Alfa can compete in a field where they prob lead in terms of "badge" and a decent motor.

I guess part of it is that I am more of a Maserati person than an Alfa one. I don't believe there is any more desire amongst the UK car buying public to buy into Alfa than Maserati but the lower price point will help. Maserati can be a relative failure but still sell acceptable quantities of cars whereas for Alfa the unit sales need to be a lot higher. As Porsche and Land Rover have shown, you can make massive unit margins on expensive cars whereas cheaper cars need much higher volumes to be economic.

Lets see how it plays out and how much FCA are prepared to subsidise the two brands from mainstream profits.

Stelvio would have been a better name for the 4C.

I don't like the idea of either Alfa or Maserati (or inevitably/eventually Ferrari..) doing an SUV, but you only have to look at what the sales have done for Porsche to see that it makes sense, and I'd rather they made an SUV that sold a lot to enable funding the sort of things I like than struggle financially and disappear...
