BACK TO THE POINT!!!!! yes I agree it is dated but so is a Countach, I just happen to date from the same period!!! Posters on the wall etc and I remember seeing a black one in Paris 20 years ago and I thought "Yes!!!"

As for size it's shorter and lower than GS and only 15 cms wider (at the back!!) so hardly gargantuan.

Went for under £25k!!!

The Countach is very different IMHO; that was a styling exercise that fuelled a thousand school boy day-dreams whereas the Testarossa was just a mess. Strangely enough I played out with one today. A black lhd that has had over 70k spent on it. Throttle bodies, bespoke exhaust, full suspension upgrade, new wheels etc, etc. Still looked a mess but put out over 500bhp. The owner and his mate managed to spin it 4 times on an old airfield we were playing on but it hit 156 on the straight.

Well the handling was a bit compromised, but the Countach was hardly the last word. Apparently 512TR's are highly sought after for competition/trackdays but I can't get over the gopping headlights!!!

When you're talking Testarossa equivalents it's the Anniversary Countach really, and if you want to talk about styling messes I could talk all night long about the mess the Anniversary made of the LP400!!!!

I would still have an LP400 over a Testarossa. Seeing one today reminded me just how badly they have aged and they didn't look good when new.

Oh yes, I'd have an LP400 over most things, stunning machine, but I'd have to send an Anniversary in to the bodyshop to have all the plastic ripped off before I could be seen in public!! I'd even take an LP400 over a 365 Boxer, although seeing the blue one come up did bring back some good memories!!

I had a brief chat with John who is the main techy at amari supercars who are located close to this car.

Apparently avoid At all costs it's a dog.

He has priced it up to bring up to a reasonable condition and the figures just don't stack up.

Now that's what I call due diligence! ;)

We all said the same of the 365 Boxer that was in C&SC a couple of issues ago when we saw it with micro blistered paint and totally unloved 12 years ago.

I accept that they (Testarossa's) are not a financially viable short-term project in anything but mint condition, and Amari's "reasonable condition" is probably quite different to mine when it comes to a Sunday smoker/toy, be interesting to see if it turns up again!!

I still regret letting the Knightsbride Safety-Deposit robbery car get away, (Black Testarossa again) I think that was £10k but the engine did come dismantled, a great pice of 80's crime history though !

And Adam, you like the Anniversary??? And I thought you had taste!! Despite my best efforts and years of enthusiasm I still can't forgive that bodykit.
