Shame, it's a good event. I suppose a little more thought by the organisers to reduce would probably mean the event can continue.

Due to complaints from those who live there.
Cars doing burnoffs
Parking on the pavements which are nkt constructed for vehicles
Litter
Noise

Simple fact it has grown so large for the venue.

However I cant see how the council can do anything except enforce the current bilaws or pass new ones.

It always has been a well behaved meet, up to about a year and a half ago, someone on facebook, unfortunately an arbarth owner, started a Bristol Breakfast club page and has gone out to steel the meet for himself. since then we get a lot more younger people and newer cars there, not complaining about that, I like it, but most of it is the same that do the Asda Cribs meet, should see the state of that place when they leave it. The chap who started that page has apperently tried to contact Tony who runs the Avenue club, or thats what he is saying, Tony told me they have repeatedly been asked to back off and find another venue, but gets ignored.

There is only a few residents on one corner, the rest is offices. The main problem is the same as always, the council hates cars, my bus ane ticket this week, i don't half know that ;

Read on Piston Heads that the place is swarming with traffic wardens, ticketing for anything they can, also been quite a few instances of cars being keyed, and serious damage being done, I think this meet may have had its day, particularly in car hating Bristol, shame as would have liked to go one day, but wont be risking it now.

Four traffic wardens turned up at 9am on the dot last month,and I will give them there due, if you were with you car they didn't ticket it, and they guided people into spaces, and though it saddens me, I think you are right :(

That is sad to hear, they're clearly no longer welcome in the city

It was fine before this group on FB took over. They not in contact with the council like Tony from the Avenue Drivers Club is, he gets the complaints, they take or the glory.

Take this week for instance, Tony sent a email out postponing it till next week because of a music festival there, the page of fb knew about the email and still went anyways. I've spoken to the idiot so knew he knew about it. Lying little sod when he says he tried to get hold f Tony originally and had no joy. No effort was made. Complete take over because of the location. :(

Often the case with events like this, they start small get popular so more attend, the more that attend the greater the chance of conflict, then the blame and then the event gets closed down or people stop going.

It is a shame but not unusual.
