Cars are getting too fast for the road. I was in a 2002 V8 RS6 at the weekend and i though, why do sports saloons/estates need to be quicker, this thing was lightening quick. Having been in a 599 it is the quickest car i have ever experienced in a straight line, the rate it accelerates boggles the mind.

It would seem that if you are not a fan of the FF front you will not like this new one.

And there lies the problem.

It's a game of cat and mouse. Audi or such are producing estate and saloon cars with such power that marques such as Ferrari have to keep raising the bar. This new model with 710hp underlines the issue.

Must admit I am a fan of the FF but not overwhelmed by the rendering. We will have to wait and see what it really looks like.

That's why I think there is not much point chipping a GranTurismo. It does what it does, and does it well. It's never going to outdrag a GT-R.

Having said that, why are FIAT group being so mean as to not allow Maserati to have double clutches? The MC Corsa has various tweaks but nothing at its core to justify the high price tag.

Just how many drivers will be able to use 710bhp effectively on the road? IMO its just a case of who can p1ss highest up the wall or bar room top trumps; largely meaningless.

Yep it is Benny......The power war is pointless........Ultimate power can corrupt.......A mrk1 Elise can be more fun with it 118bhp than a car with 500bhp....

Power is not everything in a performance car, a 599 still handles like boat, you can feel it roll in the corners a little no matter how hard Ferrari have tried to make it handle, even in RACE mode it is not brilliant. For me, 2 things which are the most important to handling are low weight and a low center of gravity.
