I know ‘Steve Wright in the afternoon’ was a bit long in the tooth but for us 50+ brigade it was safe and predictable. the way the BBC thinks itself so cool and trendy these days I’m surprised he didn’t get a red card years ago, but you knew the replacement was going to be a hundred times worse, Scott Mills, it’s becoming like Radio 1 1/2 on Radio 2 now.

I almost never listened to Steve Wright. But I will be deleting the almost for Scott Mills.

After the car crash which was Simon Mayo and Jo Whilley, you have to wonder what is in the coffee at R2 HQ.

Totally agree, they just try to be 'too cool for school' these days at the detrimental effect on what most listeners want.

Gave up on Steve Wright years ago - just too predictable and the same show he’d been doing for 20 years. Not bothered with Scott Mills either - Radio X or Virgin now. I’m not keen on either of their drive time presenters (Johnny Vaughn on Radio X is a PITA) so usually back to Sara Cox or Simon Mayo on Greatest Hits.

Bluetooth and tidal/ Spotify is the way to go, a playlist you choose and no drivel between the tracks

No idea how Steve Wright stayed on the air so long, his show wasn't funny in the 80s

Not my cup of tea Radio X tbh, not a fan of indie or Britpop.

A DJ basically has two jobs which are to put the record on and tell you what they are playing. Steve Wright never bl**dy did the latter and sang over the end of tracks trying to imitate the artist, hateful. Don't get me started on "factoids". Annoying and vacuous comments by his gang just added to the awfulness. I won't miss him a bit.

I suppose the slightly scary version is that you aren’t supposed to like it. The target audience for R1 for pre-teens to 35, R2 for 35+ and R3 and 4 for when you get bored of 2.

Maybe it’s supposed to the retirement home for R1 DJs.

Scott Mills is still a git though.

6 music for me.

Chris Evans was OK on R2 and the wife now listens to him on Virgin. - his chat between songs is often interesting.

Well…I like Steve Wright! And I enjoyed his singing too. And his chums.
