I think the 612 was always under-appreciated and sometimes it takes a while for mindsets to clear so we can understand the true beauty and design intentions. Was and always will be on my wishlist. I’d go for the later models for reliability, which means you are looking at around £70k plus for a good one.

And best in black or grey as it underscores what an imposing and majestic beast it is!

Yes, it looks better in that colour and from those first two angles. But it looks like a bit of a brut to me (as per the Granturismo). It’s not an elegant looking car, like a 456 or a 550/575 for that matter.

When I looked at a 456 I spoke with Emblem and was warned off unless I wanted to spend c4x as much as the 4200s to maintain it as a keeper.

If you end up with the valve guide problem that could hurt and there are other issues too. But, I wonder if it’s possible to find one where the main problem areas have already been addressed, that’s moderately priced vs paying top dollar at one of the independents for a high priced, low mileage garage queen(?). I suppose that’s always the challenge, to exercise some risk management. I’ve been looking for a few weeks and can’t find anything that meets my criteria and, I suspect, I probably won’t!

As mentioned earlier, I’d go for the later ones, ideally from 2008, as they are more reliable.

A quick glance revealed this beauty… has the coveted Daytona seats even.

I think the early 612s weren’t helped by having massive bodies in light colours with tiny wheels.
The later models, with bigger wheels and the updated gearbox appeal greatly.
There’s a TDF blue one at Nick Cartwright that’s been there a while and is obviously waiting for my Euromillions win…

This one is beyond my means but I wouldn't have one from this guy anyway as he doesn't wear socks and his Italian pronunciation of Scaglietti (Skal-ly-etti not Skag-ly-etti) probably means that he has pineapple on his pizza.

2008 Red Ferrari 612 5.7 Scaglietti FI Coupe 2dr Petrol Automatic (475 g/km, 532 bhp) for sale for £209,500 in Chesham, Buckinghamshire (autotrader.co.uk)

That is lovely but WOW that is a price. I would take an FF over that and have lots of change.

If only the inside was less of a coal mine... would look great with tan and black inside.

5 years without a service and a couple others missing. Personal taste but I think it also needs a contrasting interior but I am biased!109490

I don't mind black with black interior but I get the point. Saddle colour with black exterior would be ideal for me, but that cream looks lovely.

My point behind sharing that ad was that it was just one of many that came up in a 1 minute search, so there must be good examples out there to investigate with am experienced mechanic. On the other hand they have said that with the vehicle being dry stored since 2017, it will undergo a major service & timing belt replacement prior to delivery and an upgradable 6 month warranty!

When I recently spoke with my Ferrari/Maserati/Lamborghini indie, Autofficina (who also have a fab showroom), they were saying you could pick up really sound Scagliettis at around £80K at the moment.

I had 2 x 456 but down to one now - first one has 64k miles, fantastic money no object history and drove great, current car is an “m” and has done 15k miles, history not as comprehensive as spent 10 years in a museum, but drives great and looks fantastic.
V12 Ferrari for under £40k has to be ok - I think we will look back and think they were “cheap” !

They're certainly a lot cheaper than the 550 at the moment, a contemporary car to the 456 but double the price! ... Is that difference justified?
