Front Number Plate

FWIW... I have my 4 Digit "Short but entirely Legal" front plate stickyed directly onto the bottom lip of the nose and the splitter... Works a treat, pretty discreet and doesn't hit the speed humps... And no bulky plate holder to mess it up..

The previous GT had a plastic plate holder on the front which conveniently matched the length of the plate ... not too bad..

The New Sport had a metal plate holder fitted - which I removed as I was worried that if it did scrape a speed hump I might lose more than the plate... Whole thing looks much better now..

Plates were made up on-line by some firm in Ireland... completely legal.. which - so far as I gather only relates to the Font, The Size of the Digits, and the spacing between them and around. As long as the spacing meets the requirement the plate can be any size..(plate makers name in small print also on them... but no border or any other clutter)...

This is what I've done on the Strad. Doubt if it's legal, but I reckon it would be a real hard nose to do me for it. Letters are correct size, font and spacing. Only thing that's a little naughty is the border

I got my plates made up by a manufacturer in Sheffield, they will work out what you can do legally and design a plate to suit..!!

It is almost certainly illegal as the number plate should be close to the vertical not horizontal. You might find some hard-faced black rat will do you because of ANPR identification issues.

I'm just about to change my number plates. Is there a method for getting the old ones off or just the old fashioned brute force!?

I'm getting mine from http://www.platesforcars.co.uk/ who will do legal letters on smaller plates. Will let you know what they are like.

The company I got mine made up by I think were Jepson in Sheffield, a lot of smaller companies use them to make up plates and pretend they have made them, for more money of course. Jepson will make cut down plates if you need them and I think they do next day delivery..!!

I went through 3 of them. Problem is you don't realise you've lost one until days later. The footwell is the bets place in imho

I got mine there... they are fine ... as for plate removal .... strong fishing line dragged behind it does the trick with no damage... and some WD40...

Expect to find scratches underneath tho... both mine were damaged by some previous hooligan...

Excuse my ignorance - I get the fishing line but what's the WD 40 for?

Ah - thanks for the tip. Plates turned up today and look really good. Will get them on this weekend and no doubt get ripped off by the insurance company for changing the details.

There's a lot of paperwork that goes with those plates though, otherwise no insurance and a trip to prison in France or Switzerland.
