Hi Mark, If you have it, it would be interesting to know your clutch wear reading and the PIS setting, both of which are available from the SD2 tester. The clutch wear would be presented as a percentage figure and the PIS a measurement between 4.8 and 5.3 if I recall correctly.

As your f1 pump seems to be priming, and the relay is new, I wonder whether the car is 'hunting' for gear selection?

Cheers, Miles.

Hi Miles unfortunatly I don't have the readings. It was going into Shiltech for a service on Wednesday, but this fault put a stop to that.

When the cars back on the ground I'll try rocking it back and forth to see if that does anything.

I'm going to try topping up the oil in the F1 system, as it almost seems like it could be a low level thing as the warning lights on the dash were going off for a few seconds and the gear number was coming back on, this is all while the rear is jacked up.

Rocking the car is usually an indication that the starter motor has not disengaged. If could be worth looking into.

Another update, Just gone and started the car up again (still jacked up) and its all working fine no lights or beeps and it engaging gear, haven't been able to check weather it will pull away but everything seems to be working. I think I'm going to head off to Alfa and get some F1 oil top that off, then put the car on the ground and see it still wants to work!

Hi Guys,

Right it looks like its all fixed. It turns out the battery was on its way out, even though it had enough to start it apparently it wasn't enough for the electronics? Changed it and the problem has gone away.
Fingers crossed it stays that way.

Plugged the car into an SD2/3 machine, and the clutch is at 23% wear : )

Thanks for all the help and advice.

Mark

hello all, I am new to the forum "sorry google translation"
my problem is also seeing a speed box failure "f1"?
I am looking for the cause, the light comes on after 100 km and turns off after a short stop and I left and it started again.
the pump runs when you open the door with the remote.
you have other suggestions for this failure?
quesque and the SD2
thank you for your help

It sounds like it could be low fluid, worth starting at this point first, then change the F1 relay. If no joy, it needs to go to Maserati.

Good luck and welcome.

I tried with the ignition without starting the car to change gear, they all pass very well and I hear the pump also, tomorrow I would watch the oil level

Hi Memo, The SD2 / 3 is the Maserati diagnostic system. All dealers and many specialist independents will have one. If you are able to get your car to somewhere that has the SD2 / 3, then you will be able to get a clutch wear reading, as well as other pertinent information.

Hi Memo, To see the clutch wear reading you will need to have your car attached to an SD2/3 diagnostic reader, however if you have, or can get, an ODBII diagnostic reader, this may be helpful in showing any generic fault codes that might have been recorded. These generic fault codes can be helpful in directing you to the area of the problem.
