We are getting closer to this. I'm probably going to book a room at the two rivers this time; the George is fine and close to the restaurant, but breakfast starts too late to have anything if we are leaving at the same time again - couldn't even get a cup of coffee at that time. Ended up having breakfast at the Two Rivers anyway...

Oh, one question to those there last time - one of you had a stunningly well kept 4200 with a custom exhaust system (not Simons Larini, though that was awesome too) that sounded very cool, kind of a deep almost AMG 63 growl to it that I covet!

Can you give me some info about what it's like to live with and where you got it made? Sorry, I'm not good with names, so can't remember!

Thanks, I think it was pro-speed...from their gallery they have done a few 4200's and I think I recognise Bens from there.

For those who are driving at Llandow, I asked my instructor the other day how he would tackle the bus-stop complex of corners. Here is his response, hope it helps to get a good drive through:

Chris, the question on the bus stop. The key to the complex is the exit and you are correct about positioning the car for the final two corners to give you the best exit for the straight.
llandow.jpg

So to break it down.

1. You must get the car to point A on the left hand side of the circuit, how far over depends on the car.
The aim is to apply power from point A, so a front wheel drive low power car might be ok with half-track.
A powerful rear wheel drive car like a Maser will need to be right over to the left edge.

2. To get to point A you need compromise the ideal line through turn 3 to ensure that you can get over to point B. Too fast in 3 will mean slow exit out of 4 and 5.

3. To get to Point B you miss the apex at Turn 2 (here he means to go in a wide arc round 2, not clipping the apex) and have a Late late late apex on turn 3 (this will put you on the right of the track allowing you to get a straight line through turn 4).

4. To enter turn 2 from the left of the circuit you have a late turn in on turn 1.

Track instruction. Guys, the instructor (John Chambers) who gave me a days training a few weeks ago offered to come out to Llandow for the day at a cost of £250. Now this day is as much about the social side as it is about all-out track driving, but I think this is a good chance to spend a bit of time with an instructor and improve your drive for not a lot of money.

If enough people want to join in, it wouldn't cost too much each. If you're interested, let me know and if there are enough then I'll arrange it.

There's info about my day with John on other threads (search for his name, I don't know how to link to a post), and you can get more details at www.121drive.com

Cheers.

Chris - if it was my car you remembered then I'll chat to you about the exhaust in a few weeks - but yes it's a pro-speed one and its a dream to live with (sounds great at tickover, great at full blast, and never drones). Bit chuffed for it to be described as stunningly well kept too (if indeed it was mine you remembered!)

Cheers,
Ben.
