It bloody would... ;)

That's from the top of the funicular above Como - not my view from here... I'll post one later from the Michelin starred restaurant tonight, overlooking the lake. Molecular cuisine apparently - just your sort of thing, I believe :)

Faddy bollox. What's wrong with proper food? Last night we couldn't get chips with a steak. Absolute ar5eholes.

As well? :D

I can say there was sous-vide veal and a certain style of potato: steak & chips, if you will.

Just had ice cream made with liquid nitrogen at the table - total theatre, but no spinach.

I thought my lunch on the run was good if improvised yesterday:

I pulled off the A35 at Strasbourg at 15.30 on a Sunday and all I could find open was a little mini mart but they had a rotisserie going out front with whole chickens going round... so I bought a round bread, some roasted black olives and a chicken and took off ripping lumps out of each as I went... great fun, really well cooked and even made a good supper when I got in with some potato salad left over from the hen party I'd escaped from :)

A35? Did you pop into Schlumpf vintage car collection @Mulhouse as well?
We did on our way home (the only break we had on our one shot drive home of 1300kms) and it was overwhelming!
Absolutely recommended if you're somewhere near.

Well guys, the latest is that the old Ghibli requires a new water pump, I'm sure this is not a Maserati component so will continue to defend the brand, and the whole Bi-Turbo era, including the 3200 Benny!
Unfortunately the garage won't commit to a quote and I quote "to fix 3,4 days week maybe" got the recovery firm on the case, either way looks like the car is staying & were flying home. I hope they come back with a competitive quote so I can leave it here & return to complete the trip in a few weeks, recovering it home will feel like cheating.

Hope all you guys are progressing well, sounds like the fun continues for some.

She is still my heroine from the week. There are folk songs already being sung about her in East Northamptonshire. Ghibli Legend.

Adam - I am sure the delay is part supplied based, not fitting. You could always arrange for a few of us to come down and give you a hand? we have the vehicles to get us there. I will not put Contigo in charge of food.

Glad to hear from you. Keep smiling - the Ghibli is a peach.

Damon

Newton - your are the f***ing gourmand. We survived on Swiss chocolate and Pellegrini - proper driving food.

Is there not an annual Maserat European gathering? In 2013 it was in Switzerland. .. don't know where 2015 will be.

I think with this group of friends/idiots/enthusiasts we could muster a fantastic annual trip. Rather than being part of any of official annual gathering we could create our own. We have the passion and drive to put together a special event for ourselves, if the past 7 days are any indication. I think we would pull quite a few people in from outside the forum.

I'm up for it, the south of France is both a long distance and the route Napoleon to Cannes is of interest as is the Paul Ricard circuit with its Mistral straight. Maybe we could do the same weeks as this year after hosting the French at Goodwood. Maybe some of them would be willing to come? Any further suggestions?

We visited the Schlumph museum on the way down; it is a superb place, I simply put in home and fastest route and as I passed Milan it recalculated from Lyon to go via Switzerland which was longer but faster. Great fun and just one camera flash in a tunnel -not sure it was for me though.

2100 miles without and issue and then 15 yards from our car park in Amsterdam, I drove up the pavement with sport mode on, scaring some very stoned locals!

I swear it looked like the road.

Then the car park had one of those lifts to get the car onto the roof. Not easy with about 5cm of clearance but we made it.

Don't know how I'll get it back in the lift but out boat is not till 5 so some time to consider options! There is **** loads going on on the roads here, its not really a place to drive.

Home tomorrow. Great trip.

Definite hero is Adam. I think we all agreed that the water pump might be the issue, shame it is but at least it's fixable without too much issue. Quite fancy a Ghibli now....someone talk me out of it.....
