Sunday 1st May 2016 - the Maserati Tour de Yorkshire cycling sportif...

Who's up for joining me next year?

We will ride the same roads ahead of the pro cyclists - it's a fully supported event, awesome atmosphere, over the stunning North Yorkshire moors, and ending in Scarborough.

I like going out on my mountain bike, never been into road bikes, and I would fear that no matter what time I set off in front of the pro's, they would catch me up before the finish line!!

You tell me... What does that have to do with a cycling event on Sunday in Yorkshire?

I'm from Yorkshire. No worries... Sutton Bank is on the route, which will test a few pros.

Sutton Bank will test 3200s too! ;) I'll drive the support car but I'm f*cked if I'm pedalling. ;)

It will indeed - I have been up it a few times - The road up to the white horse would have been better - it's no less than 25% all the way up - shamefully I have climbed off a couple of times on that one!!!

He's BACK!!! Haven't seen much 3200 bashing of late... :)

No shame in climbing off - it's not like we do it for a living, is it? The pro riders never see gradients on the other tours like they do in Yorkshire. There was a comment from David Millar about the end section of the Sunday stage last year into Leeds - the pros were struggling up a steep hill, and then could see the really steep section suddenly appear round a sharp bend. He rode it with his father in the sportif earlier in the day, and described the language from the foreign pros as "fruity" in the extreme when they were later faced with this 'wall' :D Armed with appropriate gearing, I didn't have to get off and walk. If I was running the ratios they have, I'd not have made it up the first section...

So, I suppose there's no point in asking who wants to do the Etape du Tour with me next year? It goes right past the end of my road, within 100m of the house.

I would love to if I can start from your house - I have winter blues at the moment - Car in the garage has given me the perfect excuse to not do any turbo training.
Really must set it up in the shed!!!! and kick my own ar*e!!!
