Well I have had the car a few weeks now so thought I would post some pics on here. The car is a joy to drive and has the looks to match its handling and performance which I am impressed with. Done a few nice longish journeys and I am really getting on with the car. It's comfortable and despite its weight the car is very chuckable and holds it's own very well through the twisty bends.WP_000494.jpgDSCF2198.jpg

I considered one not long ago.....don't take this the wrong way but it's a sad day that any modern Alfa has to be bought with a diesel as the petrol engines are shite.....

Loving the new one....the MX5 has won many awards already

PS:is a honour and a pleasure to see a beautiful english girl driving italian!:saifi2: and finally an automotive employed

The GM based 3.2 V6 in the Alfa Brera/Spider actually isn't too bad.

It's the weight on the Brera and Spider which dulls performance being built on the steel heavy GM Premium Platform.

Bloody stunning cars though. Even today. Have aged very well.

Considering buying a V6 Spider with the 8c wheels as a daily.

The 1750tbi is a very good engine but I could not find any with the colour combination I wanted. Sorry but I am not a fan of the 2.2 petrol, the 3.2 was an option but weighing up the five cylinder diesel plant up against the 3.2....sorry guys but the 2.4 diesel lump won overall in my eyes. I have not regretted my choice one bit. The 2.4 is an Italian power plant and it delivers well. I agree that the dpf system is somewhat **** . The factor is that the dpf is the same one that's put into the 1.9 jtdm....and its really too small for the 2.4 plus its fitted almost half way down the cars! doh! It can not get hot enough...hence the blocking issue. However for mine lets just say it was not and now will not be an issue ;)

105k in and my GT smoker still going strong, these Diesel engines are superb. Love the red and dark contrast, a really nice combo - enjoy!

Glad to hear you're enjoying your Spider. I have a Brera 3.2 as a daily driver. I think they are very underrated cars. Can't speak for the diesels, but I agree, weight dulls the performance of the standard 3.2. However, with a custom exhaust and remap, it's a very good engine and now pulls lustily and makes a great noise.

They look stunning, we've just done 500 miles in the old school busso, great engine, though a bit retro now.

Yep, it is a shame that the petrols are just poor these days.....As I understand the 1750 that they put in the last Brera was much better than the early efforts. Even though I have fallen out of love with my Brera the diesel 2.4 is not a bad engine. Still far too heavy though........Achingly beautiful car though.

Have never been a fan of this shape Spider but recently they have been starting to grow on me and this one does look nice. However no matter how good a diesel engine is it doesn't belong in an Alfa IMO.

Alfa have certainly changed their engine focus over the last few years and in my mind not for the better. Having recently picked up a GT with the last version of the Busso V6 I can only hope Alfa revert back to engines being the heart of a car in the future.

yes zagato u are right imho....i have tried some alfas...the holden has more or less same cc v6 power and torque of busso...but busso is a totally different engine...is agressive...and the sound is astonish..the holden seems an electric motor compared to busso ...busso seems a race engine....but u have the busso gt ..and we in Italy say: ''che te lo dico a fare???''

talking about new alfas: the new models will come back to the future...the giulia is the first....u probabilly know as u are experts and fans that the gulia is coming...the quadrifoglio is testing in the ring...is rumored about 7,43 in the lap...the giulia diesel is testing in balocco and will come little bit later...the key for new alfas is rear wheel driving and the best in class driving esperience...
in the past 3 years 300 engineers have been transferred from fiat in Torino and moved to a secret building in Modena for the so called ''Alfa project''

Exciting times ahead for Alfa Romeo, I embrace it :) but for the time being my 2.4's will most certainly keep me happy behind the wheel.
