that article has left me in love......its a big IF, but IF it came out looking like that with those figures I would go for that in a few years....wont be much in it between that and the Alfieri in terms of stats but it could be 20k in price

I put down a deposit on a 4C almost 5 years ago.
They were NOT going to make a soft top, they were all possibly going to be lhd, they were only making 1500 in total and it was going to be about £30-£35k.
Well apart from the fact the delivery times moved back constantly all of the above was total nonsense.
At the same time the "New" spider was being announced to share a MX5 floorpan. That has still to see the light of day as far as I know. (along with a 159 replacement)
Alfa are very good with "wish lists" but what actually happens in reality will be a passing resemblance of what you were told.

Ah they have made a convertible on the MX5 platform ..... Called it a Fiat and made it ugly.

I'm definitely going off the Giulia the more I see it. No doubting the performance of the top model, but the front just doesn't sit right for me at any angle. Given the ground-breaking looks of the 159/Brera/Spyder and the exciting coupe designs we're seeing I'd expect something more exciting for this car's looks.

Nail on the head MAF, you can't argue with the engineering.

I am still however, scratching my head how Fiat are making the 8C and the 4C faster than any of the production Maserati's, and they are built by Maserati. Now the Giulia and this proposed 6C and they wonder why they are shutting the factory for periods due to lack of demand, it's madness and I just don't get it.

Then when Maserati do give us a glimpse of something we all want (Alfieri) they make us wait 5 years for it???

Deposit five years ago! you must have been nuts"!

The 4C's great for a thrash for an half an hour are so....
Two and a half hours rolling down to Dover on the M25 for a thash down to Italy.. it would put you in hospital..!

Forza, my old Maser 3200 GT!

I also put £1000 down on a 4c then say the price rise and rise so cancelled.

On basis of what was being touted 5 years ago I didn't consider it madness.
£30k+ for a limited edition run (1500 total left and rhd) model to rival the 8C . Stunning looks and 800kg all in weight. Exige plus performance but Italian.
What happened?
Weight increased, price almost doubled and announced it wasn't going to be a limited run and now there was a soft top despite denying it. In fact up to point of launch of coupe dealers were being told the soft top was never going to happen!
I still think it is a stunning car but at £50k+ I would buy something else Italian with more cylinders.

I agree - the 4c had potential - just go so expensive. However, they aren't holding their price, so maybe these cars will be £40k for the Spider in 2 years? I think FCA have decided they have the Maserati dealer network in place worldwide and now they need to create new Alfa's to give the brand traction? Here in the UK Alfa in Slough (I know not a nice place) will build a 2 storey glass showroom shortly for all the new cars. Alfa is only a few doors away from FIAT HQ for the UK on the same road. I think FCA will press on building new Alfas in the Maserati factory and get the brand established. I have a GT and wouldn't mind Alfa being the poor man's Ferrari it used to be - offering V6 sporting cars maybe with a manual box - leaving Maserati to the big stuff. I mean why do the Ferrari F1 team have the Alfa logo on the cars, motorhomes etc? I wonder if the new Hass F1 team will sport an Alfa logo?

Em, whatever. Anyone can make a lovely concept and create press around it. Believe when I see it although much like others posters, I imagine that it will actually be heavier, slower and less stylish when it actually hits our roads. Combine that with the Alfa propensity for mega depreciation and I doubt it will even half fill it's potential. A shame as all cars guys would love to see a strong Alfa, it's just that the Italians have shown they have an amazing ability to fail to deliver.

Then there's brand positioning. If they make this, and it turns out well, where are they going with Maserati? Ferrari has gone stratospheric, Alfa is on the up, Fiat is the entry. Is there room in the middle for Maserati? Will they turn it into Bentley and go all luxury on us with some heavyweight, Speed/AMG style mega saloons? I just don't see what the plan is.

Indeed it is all getting blurred in the Italian Sports saloon segment at the moment, they need to clarify why you would buy one marque over the other. That doesn't mean just clothing it differently and upping the price.

Don't forget Lancia :) I think Outrun is about correct - Maserati will be the Italian Bentley. I think the production volumes won't happen - but Alfa could step in and achieve them

This is what the Italian car market has always been like . That s why we love them ! They don't have a plan , they draw something that looks nice and sometimes they build it . Thats the way its should be from a designers point of view . you cant pigeon hole cars . They just are .
