Picked up some smart a****d trojan virus thingy....tried all sorts......looks like a trip to the hard disc scrubbers emporium......not been able to get on much, on the sons laptop.......thank god I've a computer at work!!!!

Not sure it helps but in addition to AVG Antivirus I have these and if you don't then worth a try:

Run them all then restart. If still there, some of these bugs regenerate on start up so if you can disable system restore then run then restart that often does it.

My son ran a whole variety of progs...kill this and slaughter that virus types...in safe mode etc, a dozen permutations, so have just sent it to my comp guy who will save everything, refurb and up-date whatever windows system is best...all I can do, leave it in today, get it back tomorrow....top man!

i had something that was not going away no matter what program i ran, i took it to pc world they charged £200 but changed the whole mother board and problem hasnt come back since and its quicker
