Thanks for all the effort & preparation guys.

I think the only bit I did not enjoy was the tailbacks on the M27 at the start of the long return journey.

Nice photos David! Thanks for sharing... It just shows how wrong the weather forecasts can be - after the early morning drizzle as we drove to the circuit, the sun shone for most of the day, and it was plenty warm enough. Matron's head gear did set sail a few times in the breeze though :)

Right - any feedback? Did I get the hotel price/quality right? Meals - right price/quality/locations? Kids' meals ok? Any other suggestions that would make another event be even better?

Spot on Drew; maybe a lazier Sunday as Goodwood was exhausting. Glad we did Beauleigh but it is ticked off the list now.

Meals were super hotel was very comfy if a little overwhelmed by having customers it seemed!

Food was too fussy for kids well for my two it was. I thought the pie and soup were nice but very rich! Great event Drew, you and Matt did a Sterling job.

Thanks mate!

What did your kids get then? I bought them Beefburger & chips and Chicken with mash & gravy, supposedly done for kids rather than gastropub style.

Beefburger was more of a patty style with lots of flavourings and too much herb etc... Chicken was done with lots of rich gravy and mash. As you know all kids want is breaded chicken and chips lol. At the end of the day we enjoyed it and they had to have Hula hoops! So what? :D

My eldest ate most of the youngest ones meal and helped Robert tuck into his Sticky Toffee pudding :D

Hotel was good although we should have warned them about certain members drinking habits - running out of San Miguel on Saturday and then shutting the bar (not to mention the lack of prosecco on the room service menu). Getting served wasn't particularly easy on the Friday.

I thought both the pubs were spot on and the food was good in both. Saturday was slightly chaotic but probably mostly our fault since no-one could remember what they had ordered. They steadfastly refused to give Merrian her pudding at 7.50 as they wanted the table back for 8.

Finally if you could move the whole thing about 100 miles north it would be much appreciated!!

Otherwise an absolutely cracking weekend.

I'm not bringing the kids next year so I don't care what the meals are like!! My two were F%%^ed by the time they got to the pub, I don't think have eaten anything so didn't matter too much in the end.

Hotel was fine, quite nice I thought. It's clearly new and they're just nailing down their service. I think it will be more slick by next year. Shame there was no cricket on though !!

Everything spot on for us, though we were maybe a tad optomistic about our timing getting down from Stansted!

Run that by me again - Newton looking for a lazier day than Sunday?? :D

"As you know"? Not really - our kids were never fed chicken nuggets and chips, so never asked for them.

Thanks mate - the hotel were warned to get the bar well stocked, but clearly didn't take me seriously!! :D Like you, I thought the Friday service was appalling, like they'd never done it before. Big lesson learned about the pre-orders; virtually no-one (me included) could remember what they'd ordered, so next time we need to print out individual labels for each person to make it foolproof. Easily sorted. Moving it north is merely a matter of choosing an event to suit!! However, I think next time we will be moving it considerably further south, into Europe for next year... ;)

Yes, great shame about the cricket, but I'm going to watch Yorkshire play there next year for sure. What a venue! Hotel had been open 12 weeks only.

Sounds like I should have kept my own £50 in my pocket rather than paying for meals for the kids there, and let you all buy them bags of crisps instead! :D

On reflection, it was a long day for the adults, so must have been really hard work for the youngsters.

Cheers Allan! Really pleased you managed to make it though!
