That's a good looking engine Frank; unmolested by the looks of it? Unlike those floor rails and sill; they appear more like you used a wide angle or fisheye - a bit of straightening to be done or start again...

Quite a challenge but I'd love to be doing the engine!

If I had the time Frank, nothing more theraputic than rebuilding an engine for pleasure; that one looks like there is nothing unessessary at all....

Requires a full rebuild and thorough over haul Newton....two heads and 32 studs, likely to be corroded...needs crankshaft reground, new pistons and liners....6 of them, new valves, waste, cam follwers......etc......

All fun and intrigueing Frank , nowt daunting with 50's technology just robust and methodical engineering, how i would love like Newton to have a crack at the rebuild , plug up all the holes and inlets and would start with a light fine sand/bead blaster to clean it all up,id have it looking the bees , especially when someone else is supplying the bits lol

I agree a good sand / garnet blast and it would look fab. The floor and sills look like the only real issue, the chassi does not look that bad at all.

Quite a few hours am afraid Rob.....but its been built into the pricing......and am ok for it to take 6-12 motnhs as the guy can do it at a lower rate when hes not busy....ie esp over the next 3/4 months

Good forward planning that Frank, should keep the figures a bit lower overall and as you say, you're in no rush.

How did you manage that Frank...Editing my posts, you could set me up good and proper....hahahaha...????

57 years of crud......you wouldn't believe it Rob.....it was like an archealogical dig at times.....this is it cleaned just for handling purposes....will give it a light soda blasting before installing plus redo paint on valve covers

Frank,
As they say, "if it's worth doing, it's worth doing right" and you certainly seem to be doing that Frank. It's a project I will look forward to watching.

A lot more evenings spent stripping the said car.....all wiring/electrics/instruments/dashboard out, labelled, and stashed for future use/reference. Futher scraping done, rear clutch/gerarbox/brake housing dismounted.

A few more evenings scraping, take out suspension units, and glass and Bobs your uncle...well until I lay my hands on the paint stripper/nylon brush unit to take off remainder.............then.......sand blast lower 10 inches only....so a bit behind schedule......but then 2 mths late in starting.

Pics to follow
