Track Day suggestions

Right then, following on from the taste for speed that some people have acquired at Brunty, here are some suggestions:

I'd prefer it to not happen in August, as that's too soon for my busted ribs :D

Rockingham

Tricky - they have a couple of sessions in August, one evening session Friday 14th (£79, 98dB), and all day Friday 21st (£180, 105dB).

September - all day Sunday 27th (£215, 98dB)

October - nothing.

Mallory Park

August - Tuesday 18th (£259, 105dB)

September - Tuesday 1st (£235, 105dB), Tuesday 15th (£235, 105db), Thursday 24th (£129, 103dB)

October - Saturday 10th - sessions, not open pit lane (£159, 103 dB static), Tuesday 13th (£169, 105dB)

Donington Park (all 98dB drive-by, National circuit unless stated as GP circuit)

August - Thursday 20 August £145) Friday 21 August £325, Friday 21 August Evening £139, Sunday 23 August £295, Monday 31 August GP Circuit £249

September - Friday 04 September £325, Monday 07 September £295, Friday 11 September £325, Monday 14 September £219, Friday
18 September GP circuit £289

October - Friday 02 October £295, Tuesday 06 October £295, Friday 09 October £245, Friday 16 October £295, Saturday 24 October £295

Blyton Park (105dB static officially, but actually measured on a generous drive-by :) )

August - Wednesday 12 August £99, Sunday 16 August £129, Saturday, 29 August £129, Sunday 30 August 2015 £129

September - Sunday 06 September £129, Wednesday 16 September £129, Saturday 19 September SPRINT DAY (morning practice, then sprint competition in afternoon. Sprint day licences will be issued on the day to non-race licence holders, 95 dB drive-by) £149, Saturday 26 September £129, Wednesday 30 September £129

October - Saturday 03 October (morning outer, afternoon eastern circuit) £125, Sunday 11 October £129, Wednesday 14 October £99, Sunday 25 October £129

...or we could do a day at Spa (full GP circuit, 107dB) for just under £300 in October :)

Spiffing! :)

I'm sure you'd like to organise that one for us :)

No probs.... Its just 15 mins down the road... Know the guys well that run it... The last event if the year they try to run into dusk to get pics of glowing discs!!

To be fair could be quite costly for you guys to cone over.. Suppose just have to try to get our lot over here to try one out.. Maybe get some of the n ireland italian motor club guys involved too...

No noise tests here either... But cant begin play until local church services are over!! About 11.30-12.00

Will probably pass a 105 test, but not a chance of a 90 or 88. Even a standard one won't pass that.
It's not an exact science, as external reflections can affect the reading, as will how much you p*ss-off the guy with the test meter... ;) If he's in a good mood and laughing with you, then the distance stick could be a bit longer than if you treat him/her like a piece of dirt. Inverse square law means every mm matters.
If you visit a track day to spectate, check it out etc, they will undoubtedly test your car for you free of charge if you ask them.

I do wonder if mine will pass even when Croft describe their 105dB session as "Noisy Car" day! :)

Lots of choice there.
Anglesey also a nice circuit.
Guess if it's a weekday or weekend. Personally can do either from mid September after the holiday season, before it gets cold and wintery!
Where did you pull the dates from, notice a few javelin days in there..a good friend is also trying to pin down a day with me, he does lots of days a year in his new track focused mx5 toy (more agreeable than his previous 996GT3 and 997 Turbo!!) and would happy join in the fun too!

I would think so mate - my race car passes 105, and it's a LOT louder than MAF's banana.

Dates are from MotorSport Days using the filters to select a few tracks and months. They are a consolidator advertising pretty much all the track day companies.

Weekdays are usually cheaper and obviously quieter than weekends, which generally sell out completely. I've included both, as I realise not everyone can make a weekday.

Prefer not August and not October as my little one is due 2nd October!

So September is best for me.

I know i don't have the car yet but out of curiosity on an average track day how much abuse are brakes and tyres on a GT likely to take, assuming neither are new when arriving on track is it likely to need to visit the workshop the following day?

Loved the forum event at Goodwood - costly but the facilities are so good and there are other things to do if you bring guests and a great hotel

There are pros and cons to consider for each track too - for instance, Blyton has essentially nothing to hit, virtually all the run-off is onto flat concrete in good condition. Get it wrong at Mallory and there are walls or buildings to hit. Speeds at Donington in a Maser will be much higher than Mallory, but higher still at Rockingham.

And of course, there's the bacon butty quality and availability to take into account :)

Might be a bit tight getting our QP's side by side round the hairpin Drew
