Originally the Giulia was expected to share the Ghibli V6 but has a new Ferrari derived V6 which will be used in the new Dino. No surprise that a Ferrari lump produces more power?
I suspect that the Alfieri will use the same engine for entry level but somewhat detuned.
Well its left me a bit cold, i really do not like the front or profile, the rear is good though. I think it will drive really well, but it looks like Alfa played it safe and is pandering to the American market....money over passion, Alfieri for me, looks like the GranSport is safe for a few more years!
Put the money and engineering to one side, and i would still take the 159 on looks.
erm erm erm. It will probably grow on me and it may look much better in the flesh but its not having the same effect as the 159 TI did or the 156 Veloce. Its missing something for me. It's not punching me in the face and demanding I buy one now.
The front end V shows its an Alfa but I would be hard pushed to pick out any Alfa give away details if it didnt have any Alfa badges on it and had the nose covered.
Hopefully the performance and the interior will make up for what its lacking on the outside.
I'm not convinced it wont date quicker than the facelift 156's and 159's.
Looking at the white on in the video not sure yet the red one in the video I really like.....If it is around 55/60k that makes it a 500bhp bargain and a genuine alternative to the M5 maybe........or is it aimed at the M3/4 and AMG Merc....either way still seems good if they get the drive right.
I like it, and that coming from someone who does not like modern cars
Somehow i can see my 156 in it, and I love me 156, seams to get a good natural progression on from the 159. Have they played it safe? Probably, but Alfa need this car to succeed. I like the close links it has to the rest of the Fiat family, tbh about bloody time, we been waiting long enough
I really quite like it.... though it is a bit mainstream in the styling... I remember the Brera concept (with the V8 and scissor doors and brown interior and "captain Nemo" controls) looking absolutely stunning - but when the Brera was launched I was really disappointed. Wasn't expecting so much this time though
The price the hot one though I think will be well into Ghibli territory - and they'll drop like a stone in the first 2 years -- and the Ferrari sourced engine is going to need some looking after - so they won't be cheap to run..
Could be a good buy 2 or 3 years old...
But ... Alfa generally get the engines right, and for the most part the styling is cool - if not always jaw dropping... but they have a habit of cocking up other aspects - You never quite get the full package - always something you have to compromise on....so it will be interesting to see whether the Steering/ Suspension/ Transmission are up to the german standards..
I don't think they'll be too many of the QV 's around though... got a feeling they'll end up a bit like the old Lancia Thema 8:32...
Its bloody awful looking !!!!. That is not Alfa styling , thats a Lexus with an Alfa badge stuck on it . Its s a generic spread sheet designed saloon car to temp M3 and Audi owners to try something new.
.....Thats it folks, the last independent and truly passionate car designer has sold out to the accountants ..... give me a Brera any day , which was a car with styling that you just wanted to lick!!
Matt I think that list is justt the 4 door salon sales figures ..Fat Americans like their Pickup trucks so they can pretend to be an urban cowboy while eaking a 2kg burger with a gallon of fizzy sugar water.
