HR Owen gave me one of these today as a courtesy car and I have to say CHEAP NASTY INTERIOR.

On the plus side she drives beautifully and fair bit of poke from 4 cylinder turbo charged engine.

The interior does not even begin to compare with cars like Alfa GTV, GT and Brera.........more gizzmos but less style

I've got a 159 sportwagen from meridian as well, some plastics are a bit cheap insde, but I love the heated leather seats.

The engine seems really good for a diesel and the steering is nicely weighted. Outside in looks fab with 19" wheels.

Perhaps next for the family runabout..... Missus wants a grancabrio though......

Urby, the 159 has the same interior as the Brera!

I know what you mean about the cheap and nasty!

It has been a long time since I sat in a Brera but I never remember it as being like this. Its the funny texured finish for the dash which I hate the most. Its a shame because otherwise it is quite a nice car and drives beautifully. The GT, 156 and GTV just felt more like an Alfa should

Agree there Urby.
Had a 159 and a GT and various 166/156s before that.

159 much more solidly built but not like a real Alfa in the way it drove it just felt I'm afraid.

The plastic dash material isn't very nice but at least the metal is metal, and not silver plastic like it is on so many cars, even "upmarket" Audis.

It is extremely durable, the seats are remarkablly robust. 130k on and there is no difference between the drivers seat in mine and any of the others, bar a bit more shine on the leather. No squeaks either, from anywhere bar the "normal" suspension bushes.

I also like the long bases on the seats, too many cars have really short seat squabs!

It is a far nicer place to sit than much else in it's class I reckon, but I agree that plastic is a bit scratchy. The solution? don't touch it, there is, after all, no need to!!!

Shame they've got the depreciation bug so bad (for me as a vendor!!!!)

The 156 was a proper Alfa especially with the 2.5 V6 .........it was voted car of the year in 1998 and for good reason. The concealed door handles gave it that coupe look. The 159 is missing out on something
