Could everyone signed up to drive on the track in Modena please complete and sign the form Track Event in Modena, and send me a scanned or photographed copy?

We need them ALL before the event - paper copies on the evening will be too late...

It's also important to actually write the words 'read and approved' above your signature.

Thanks all!

Hi Drew - can you clarify the insurance requirements in the declaration - are we going to have to take out separate 3rd party track day insurance as it refers to "in the context of this event"? Thanks Steve

I got a track day insurance from "insuremytrackday.com" £80 for the session, it was easy enough if any one else is thinking of this.

You need to have insurance cover should you cause an accident, and damage anyone's car. Or deep pockets... Some insurance companies will cover you f.o.c. if you call them to advise them of the location, the date and make clear the fact that it's a private event with no racing, no timing, no public, limited cars on track etc...

I would double check, track day insurance normally only covers damage to your car, which on a UK track day is the norm, if you damage any other car it's tough luck for the third party if they don't have cover.
Drew below is asking for insurance cover if you damage a third party...

Here are the track rules:

http://www.autodromodimodena.it/inside.php?page=45

It doesn't actually say you need to be insured, just that you are liable for any damage caused.

Drivers shall verify that the vehicle or motorcycle they intend to use is fit for the proposed practice and shall be fully liable for accidents and subsequent damage to them or their property or to third parties or third party property (including drivers, passengers, guests, mechanics, etc.) as well as the Modena Racetrack’s facilities, holding harmless Modena Racetrack, its Management, officials and employees and any other person involved and more generally the persons described at articles 1228 and 2049 of the Italian Civil Code;

I'm concerned over the noise level of the GT if they check that, I'll just go slowly.

I doubt very much we will have any bother with noise - they are road cars... Some people obviously might be fractionally over the limit, by say 45dB or so... But there are valves for that kind of test, no? ;)

Is this going to be a stock car session :) i would think hitting each other is very unlikely! I was thinking of coverage for overcooking a corner, or some vital part of the car deciding to be Italian at a critical moment causing unexpected excitement.

Quite. It's supposed to be fun for all, with nothing but pride & joy Maseratis on track.

Drew. I am having some braking issues with my car and with discretion being the better part of valour have decided not to take part in this event. I'm happy enough to leave the money in the pot and if anybody wants to take up a free place please feel free to let them have it so to speak!

OK mate - that's very decent of you! Can I suggest you might still be a driver, so it might be handy if you completed a form 'just in case'... ;)

I'm not sure what they will actually insist on for the collective photo, but you never know... If everyone signs a form, then there shouldn't be any disappointment about spectators' cars not being allowed to join for a group photo. I can just see it happening...

My forms in, and as stated earlier, I wont be thrashing my car round the track, nice and steady will be the order of the day. It still has to get me round the rest of the holiday! I am treating it as just another piece/experience of the trip to look back on and say "we did it".

issue here is that Morris insurance does not cover injury to other persons, passengers or damage to other peoples property. Didn't know this was going to be so difficult. It only covers me crashing or someone else hotting me not the other way round. There is NO liability to 3rd parties. I'm running out of time to sort this out as have a trench of work that has come in. I may have to pull out.
I thought is was only going to be a jolly, like silverstone not a balls out session?

You think you have problems!!!

I've just cancelled two Maserati insurance policies with Privilege.... And re-insured them elsewhere.

Why?

Well, on phoning to tell them I was using the QP abroad again, and would be visiting France, Italy and Switzerland, with a short private session on a track in Modena, they made the following statement:

"You might crash the car on the track, drag it to a nearby road and then claim against us, even if you have insured it elsewhere. We won't provide you with any foreign use cover."

I'm aghast, and have lodged an official complaint. That's an accusation of actually planning to defraud the insurance company!
