Was there ever a 'spprt' version of the 456 with uprated brakes?
seems most new high end cars dont have drilled so very interesting. i badly need new fronts so will look to get 456 fronts installed.
what iam not sure of would this be a mod that would affect insurance ?
I've just done a contrast/compare between the 550 and 456 discs.
There are a couple of dimensions which are different and these are the internal bell dimensions
On the 550 the width is 164mm on the 456 it's 163mm and the thickness of the face is 7mm on the 550 and 8mm on the 456
Whether that makes a difference in reality has to be seen.
If the disc is a tight fit on the hub it could well be. Anybody care to comment?
If you tell them you have modded the brakes, they will probably take the opportunity to load your premium. If you fit 456 discs and don't tell them, they won't! It's not as if you are sneaking in a performance change is it? Also, if they do work better, that should drop your premium as you can stop quicker.

I'm worried about is the 164mm-163mm discrepancy between the bell dimension of the two. If I find that the hub is less than 163mm across it'll fit.
Get the 456 ones drilled and yes Neil is right 7mm as opposed to 8mm
In the attachment written by Fran and posted by Phil you will see that Fran actually purchased the 456 Discs and fitted them to his 4200 so they do fit and I am sure they will work well for everyday use with a good set of pads.
There could however be a problem when you come to sell the car, if the person asks for an inspection as this could identify the fact that the discs are not standard which could result in the buyer pulling out or requesting a substantial reduction in price.

I'm more worried about the 550's 164mm vs the 456's 163mm dimension.
I would be interested to hear what happens Enzo, but I'm going to have a tinker/measure on Monday.
