Belts, clutch, brakes all done this February, a £2600 service. It seems to want for nothing, just a bit tatty and a bit far away.

It probably makes no sense to non-collectors but I have just been offered a Heuer Silverstone (a watch!!) at a very good price. It's one or the other to be honest as I've got a Land Rover to collect and a Lotus needing a new engine this month so having both would be greedy. Plus I had a new Jaeger last week.

I think the Alfa would be a great 4200 substitute for a fifth of the price. Could get a ProSpeed exhaust and some sports cats and it'll go and sound like ****!

It sure would Lewis....I have Koni Adjustables and Eibach Springs, Q2, GTA lighter fly wheel, polybushes and autodelta exhaust on my GTV and the car is transformed.
......and yes it would be a good 4200 substitute for a while....My GTV reminds me so much of my 3200..Strange isn't it.......

Will call the guy this morning and look at flights/trains for next week. A pain it's so far but the next cheapest one is almost twice as much!

Andy, you've your finger on the Alfa pulse, if you see a well priced (sub-£4k) GT V6 let me know please!

Reading/watching some reviews last night, never heard such a positive set to be honest. The problem will be resisiting spending the money on it, I need to keep it as a fast runabout and shopping car. Easy to do what you have done to your GTV and have a very ast car, but then I could have bought something else. Sub £3k this is just such a bargain :)

Will do Lewis...but agree if mechanically sound then this could be a real bargain........GT's are a very desirable Alfa...more so than the Brera..Just to hear what Matt and UM say about them....UM misses his even though he has a GS...Let us know how you get on.....

Guy is not not answering his phone, he might only be about in the evenings judging by the message he left me late last night.

Flights to Edinburgh (return, just in case!) £138 which won't break the bank.

I know I'd set my heart on a Spider, but this a is a fast, modern, practical and still special car at a bargain price. Think it's the right choice to replace our VR6 and almost replaces the 4200 (almost!). But I'd be happy to blat to Europe in this, it's stylish, nice inside, will cruise well and be decent in the twisties.

Sarah isn't going to be impressed though...

I was talking about the 916 V6 Spider from my other Alfa thread, not my 105 series Veloce! That's going nowhere.

Literally, as it won't start. New battery needed :(

So... I now pretty much own 2 Alfa Romeos!!

Paid him a £200 deposit and fly up on Tues for a look - if it checks out, I'll be driving it home, pretty good test of a car, a 400mile drive! Luckily it has cruise control and I hope a decent stereo!

Quite excited and err... Haven't told Sarah yet either...

Exactly Andy! Long chat with the chap last night, belts were done at 36k and again at 80k so it really has had a very good history, just a high miler. Saw a 916 Spider last night, it is lovely but I have 3 other ragtops. A big, practical fast coupe is just what we need for... err something, I'll think of something.

The 'damage' in the pictures... he said it looked like Chips-Away or similar had come over, rubbed it back, then not painted it. It was all prepped so basically he's had a go himself and says it's much tidier! Couple of dents, a car that's done 85k miles basically, it's going to live in London so I don't care.

Q2... were the diff issues sorted by this age of car? I'd like to get away without spending too much cash so if not critical it isn't getting one. Though I think a nice exhaust might be on the cards, I'll see how it sounds ;)

Well done Lewis, welcome to the club. Next meet we should bring the pair and see how they compare against each other. You might think that mad but apparently a slightly modded JTD to 190hp can keep up round a track with the V6. I would get it done to mine but I dont see the need. Its not about speed, she is just a mile muncher to me.

I think MAF has had this done....

Wish I'd paid a bit more attention to yours now Matt though I didn't have one of these on the radar at the time!

This is also a mile-muncher but I think it's capable of being more, I hope with the noise and performance of the engine its going to be quite special.

Better get my flights booked! Glasgow here I come!

It might be cheaper, and more fun to hire car it one way. Much better than flying, I hate fecking aeroplanes.
