Nail n the head there Matt...'its not pleasant'..............Never understood why you would want to be louder than anyone else....I like a great sounding car but you have to be able to drive it without it making your ears bleed...Loud does not mean a great sound...... Remember driving a members 4200 with a Larini and the drone at 70 was terrible....it got right on my tit.......When I drove Blondies Stradale that was perfect and couldn't see why you would want louder.....
....then another £250 to get the Cat D removed.....
Matt just enjoying the read of your rebuild and not got to the end yet but noticed this, are you saying that you can remove the Cat D off the vehicle?
On my 4200 there's a bit of drone at 70, and I'm not a fan of it at all. The answer I found was to drive at 80-90 and it disappears completely!
The H pipe should change that as well.
My understanding is that you can change the status to inspected, but you can never remove the Cat C/D.
I would imagine that the H pipe would make the drone louder or am I mistaken?
We shall see (hopefully this afternoon). If it is too much, I'll change the back boxes. Or just drive at 80-90 everywhere!
I would imagine it will change the tone of the exhaust regardless.
It will be interesting to hear your review of the H pipe. And I'm impressed that the radiator arrived that quickly from Italy too
Well Matt, I would just like to personally thank you, in between telephone calls I have got Sweet FA done reading this thread, cheers only lost a couple of grand whilst reading it
Seriously that looks the bollox, only wish I had the time and patience (and skill) to do something like that.
Thanks for not wasting my time, truly enjoyed the read
Well thank you John, you saw the car at Ace a few weeks back but I must say she is mint and I recon the best example of a GTA Spider out there, regardless of history.
There were only ever 37 Phase 3, 3.2 (916 GTA - 10 Silver/2 Black/4 Blue/1 Grey/13 Red) right hand drive spiders shipped to the UK. I can't see any other right hand drive examples going to other right hand drive territories.
Of those, some will have been scrapped now, and the cars left, half of those will be tatty and/or high mileage.
My car is a 1 owner from new, 25k mile car, final limited edition (wheels plus other trim) and has had a complete respray to the entire body, inside and out, undersealed, powder coated wheels and callipers and suspension struts, springs and wishbones. Engine out, rechromed and repainted block and gearbox plus stainless exhaust.
So I recon mine is one of only 5 or so cars in exceptional condition.
GTV 916 Coupes there where only 57 Phase 3, 3.2 (916 GTA - 15 Silver/11 Black/11 Blue/5 Grey/15 Red) and I had one of those from new too. I still know the current owner.
