That's a fraction more than my new one just cost! It'll be a good £15k spend in 18 months time though. I saw at my local Alfa dealer yesterday that Guiliettas are going with 5 years interest free credit and 5 years free servicing. They just can't sell enough. I think they're way too dear personally and although I loved them when they came out, they aren't quite as pretty in the flesh as I first thought. The only way I'd spend £32k on one would be if Uma came with it.

That is madness, nobody is going to spend £32k on a used Alfa hatchback. I agree with the sentiments that it is a very nice car, but surely, that needs £10k knocking off it to be even vaguely attractive!

Best cheap all round car you can buy is a phase 2 Alfa 156 JTD Sportwagon

Guigario designed, true classic Alfa feel, powerful 1.9 JTD which will return 500+ miles per tank, get a leather spec one and your all done for under £5k perfect family wagon.

If you can do without 4 doors, get the GT, its even better and about £2k more expensive:

or get Loz to do you a special Cat C for a christening prezie!

That 156 is nice, looks a decent example.

Not sure i would ever buy a "CAT" car, always a little dubious plus they are a pain to sell on i bet.

A3 is a good car Dem, my dad had a 2003 2.0 TDI, one of the first new shape models in the country, owned it for 3 years, 63k miles and was bomb proof, engine was so smooth and refined, would return 50 mpg no problem and on the Motorway, 60 mpg was not uncommon. Interior, very good quality, no loose trim, squeaks or rattles. Only negative IMO is it was a little boring but if you just want a car to do simple jobs and be reliable, the A3 is a good bet.

A golf?? A3??

Rather boil my head than have an A3....Or any Audi for that matter..(apart form R8)......Golf bores me also...Just not the car it used to be. Last one I went in was a 2010.....I was more excited by the Ford Focus hire car I had....

We have a new A6 as a family car, not very exciting but as Adam says it's bomb proof, smooth, refined, great fuel economy, but its not a maserati......horses for courses

Like i said, if you just wanted a car to do jobs and be practical and reliable, the Audi/VW's with the TDI engine are the best out there, would not buy a BMW over it. Would much rather have an A3/Golf over a 1 Series, they are a foul looking creature.
