That is a lot of car for not a lot... Was a high spec car and 102,000 is not high really. I don't need another motor just now though...

Quite thirsty that TS though Andy, and the 166 is a lot heavier than the GTV/156.

Cheap pretty car though and love that tan interior.

Thirsty and slowwwww.

But still oddly tempted to point my father at it. He was gutted at the loss of his (my ex) 2.5 166

I hate this "SOLD AS SEEN" malarkey. Given they are a motor dealer I would love to use the SOGA line on them....

Big car.....big road tax...usually big trouble.........but in the hands of an enthusiast, if it has a big bunch of bills, drives well....why not!

I'm guessing it'll be a trade sale with no warranty etc.

It's a 13 year old Alfa with over 100k miles on it - not for me, thanks!

Spot on MAF260 (as usual!). Warranty on a £1000, 13 year old, 100k+ Alfa?!. Perhaps we should be more specific with our description and sell it as SCRAP or FOR PARTS?, happy for your valuable feed back as ever!, Alistair p.s Happy New Year to you all!

I doubt there's much wrong with it. As long as it's had its oil changed, you might be looking at suspension bushes and some other odds and sods. £450 for a full 100k service with belts. Cheap as chips IMHO. I'd have it like a shot if I was in the market.

Never liked the 164, or indeed the 155.
My 166 was OK, but not really suited to hustling and never gave me the ball sack tingle when I walked across the car park. Great for long distance cruising.
Interesting PH pretty much said what I did, with more detailed. Water pump will go with the full service. Suppose the heater matrix might need swapping, but that's easy to check. Apparently you can drop in a Maserati one :D

So Mark, explain the get out clause "trade sale"?

P
As I understand it, a Trade Sale is exactly that - sale to another trader with no comebacks, warranty etc. This sort of transaction is common amongst dealers for trade-ins etc.
In the case of this car/ad 'sold as seen' says there is no warranty for the car, which I believe to be perfectly acceptable and legal. The seller will still have to make sure it's fit for purpose at the time of sale to comply with UK trading laws etc. My experience of ADG is that this car will be in very good condition and as described, but for the price offered there's no way they could offer it with any form of warranty without the risk of losing cash - as I said previously, it's a 13 year old Alfa with over 100k under its belt! I would imagine they thought it too good a car to let go the usual route of trade-ins - either the scrappy or an auction.

This from a post off the consumer forum.....

If you buy from a trader (i.e. a dealer or business) then you have protection under the SOGA. The seller is not legally obliged to provide a warranty BUT he/she would be responsible for any inherent defects which may occur (i.e. anything which was present at the point of sale).

A trader is expected to know what he is selling and that it is of satisfactory quality, fit for the purpose and as described.

P.S. to this; it would be illegal to attempt to remove or reduce your statutory rights by implying that the car is "sold as seen" or any similar wording on a receipt.
