It's been a busy day, the 4200 is staying

Okay not a lot, but even with only 10K miles and 2 years old, its going to be worth much less than what you will have paid less typical new purchase price.

Had a think about what you've written , are cars are priced artificially high to make renting them look like a good deal , only pensioners buy new cars, everybody else rents

This jeep seems to be an exception but say the normal price of 4K deposit and £350 for 23 months , 12k over 2 years

Car is 51k minus the 12k = 39k , cost price is probably 25k which they've already had half , car sells at 2years old 10,000 miles for say 25k 1/2 the price of a new one but they've still made 12k on it

Simplified figures but 30k for a golf 50k for a fiat 500 , 30k for a mondeo , is this really what a new car should cost.

Was looking at them for the missus. Not sure why, she thinks the Merc is too big!

Sounds like a bargain! Be interesting to see how you find it!

What sort of money would I be looking at for 10k a year?

That 50k for a Fiat 500 is an exceptional case. For that you are buying a racing car rather than a road car.

I agree on prices though. That said VAT on a £50k car is going to around £10k!!

Think it's over now, you could always give mangoletsi a call to see if anyone got refused finance , I only do 5-6k in a car so making sure I'm under will be easy enough with a van and 4200 as well so I didn't see how much the excess mileage was, I think I read a few got 10k for £299 and £897 down but the thread got a bit confusing with different cars getting mentioned

Shame the offer wasn't on the 6.4l HEMI. That would sort of defeat the object though I guess ;)

The Grand Cherokee is a beast of a car. Hope you enjoy it.

It seems not, Just had a call from the MD of Mangoletsi, they've taken orders for 3x as many cars as they can get so he's been on the phone all day apologising and cancelling orders.

Some you win some you lose but I'd have been a bit ****** off if I'd sold my yeti

I bet they are used to doing to calling around and apology thing. Then try to sell the weaker people something they didn't really want at a higher price.

Probably but I won't be one of them , a 50k car for £250 a month was OK but I don't want a fiat 500 for £99 a month

Good for you. Some things are not meant to be and some are. I'm sure you'll find soon enough it wasn't meant to be for a reason.

Lynne has never been moved by any car I've ever owned , not even a Maserati , today we've been to a car supermarket , fords of winsford which is a useful place to visit if you're not sure which car you want because they have most cars on site and hand out keys freely so you can sit in and spend as much time looking around a car as you want with no pressure at all, a salesman won't even speak to you unless you approach him first.

The upshot of that is we've found a car she absolutely loves , they had a really nice XF portfolio which was beautiful but far too big for her , so we've agreed on

An Evoque , I even liked it and she loved it so if it's still there in a few weeks we'll be going back unless I find something better in between like a bargain lease
